A loud screech ringed in his ear. The man just held out his hand and waited for the bird to land on it. A big and majestic hawk sat on general's muscular hand. The bird had a beautiful ashen colour with a milky belly and a pair of dark-toned wings. The little bell on a red rope at her legs jiggled as the general untied it and opened little scroll with a wax imperial signet. He read the message quickly with his eyes and became pale. Jongho gulped and blinked a few times in disbelief. How could this happen?

A strong and cold breeze roughly slapped his face. The feathers on man's helmet danced in the air. Even if Jongho was wearing thick fur around his neck which was also covering his shoulders, he shivered as the low temperature tried to bite into his skin and leave frostbites on it. A young warrior seated on top of his chestnut horse rode next to his general who was sitting on his loyal white mare.

"Lieutenant Moon greets General Choi." The man lowered his head as the gesture of respect and then he looked back at Jongho. "Any news from the capital?"

The general turned his head and nodded. "There was an ambush on the emperor's younger sister, on princess Eunbyul."

The other gasped slightly, "are you going back to the royal palace?"

"It seems so," Jongho mumbled. "Then I'll be leaving you in charge until I return, Joonsang."

The young warrior nodded his head, "as you wish general Choi." Jongho glanced at him with a timid smile on his face. "I'll let others know that you are leaving."

"Thank you. If anything happens when I'm in the capital then just send Hae-Ju, she always knows where to find me." The hawk at the mention of her name screeched and proudly puffed her chest. Both men laughed at her reaction and Jongho pet the feathers between her neck and chest with his fingers. Hae-Ju happily nuzzled against her master's hand.

Jongho opened his tent and entered it. He let the warmth surround his frozen body. Even though it was already spring, here in the mountains, where Jongho was ordered to guard the borders with other kingdom was still covered with snow. The hungry howl of snowstorm could be heard outside of the tent.

He put his helmet aside letting his caramel-blond hair free. Few locks covered his eyes and the general lazily get them out of the way. He slowly worked on untying his shoulder pads and the rest of his armour. The chest piece looked like a lion's head.

After he was done with stripping the metal coverings he sat into a chair with fluffy fur on it which was making it more comfortable to sit in. He loudly sighed and took a cup made of bronze filled with hot tea closer to his lips and sipped from it. A little cloud escaped from his mouth.

You seem a little bit tense these past days Jong, said a deep and majestic voice. The young man ran his muscular hand through his silky hair.
