When I finished packing I heard my phone buzzing.
From: Jake
Hi, alex. ill miss u. ur leaving today, right?
I looked, sighed, and stretched. Jake was starting to get super annoying with all of this. I mean like, seriously, the dude never leaves me alone.
To: Jake
ya, at about nineish. srry, jake. txt u lter.
I knew that would get rid of him for a little bit longer, just long enough for me to pack. Today was the last day of school. I'd be leaving at ten to go on the plane. I told him I'd be leaving at nine to get some extra air around my schedule.
I finished packing, and yelled out to my mom.
"I'm ready, can I hang out with Jake till six?" it was three at the moment, I had only taken about like thirty minutes to pack.
"Eh, sure, I guess."
I texted Jake:
To: Jake
hey, i cn hng out until about six.... is tht ok?
Send... BUZZ. I looked at my phone, not surprised that he had ALREADY texted me.
From: Jake
ya, thts fine. cnt wait to c u.
I grasped the idea of going to his place just to satisfy his stupid, stupid mind.
I walked out the door, grasping my iphone in one hand. I took my skateboard from the garage, placed my iphone in my jacket pocket, and rode to his house, about a block away. I know I could have just walked, but I'd rather not.
"Hey, Alex."
He was in his front yard, waiting like he needed it for his life. I looked at him, and he grinned like crazy. Sighing, I stretched and made my way to him.
"Hey, hot shot."
He laughed. It had grown like a sort of nickname, even if it was a bit mean.
"So, your leaving at nine?"
"Really eight, to get through the stupid service lines."
"Right...."
I laughed, and we made our way to the door.
"I have to go at six," I reminded him.
"I know."
I had never been to his house, never met his family either. A pudgy woman wearing a apron and holding a wooden spoon in one hand, his baby sister in the other.
"Hello, I'm Jake's mom."
"Right, I'm Alexandra Malik, Alex for short."
She smiled at me. She looked busy, and she walked off. Jake shrugged and brought me to his room. The first thing I noticed was the mirror that was near his bed. He checked himself out in it and smiled at his reflection.
"Pretty boy," I muttered.
This would be a looong day.
