"Bye, sweetie," my mom said.
I smiled, and she went off back to the car. I was already through the lines, she just wanted to say goodbye, and the checkers had no business telling her not to. My plane would arrive at ten, it was about 9:48. About twelve minutes until the plane would come. Great. Twelve minutes till the plane took off.

Hey gurl, I'm leaving soon. txt u when i get there. i promise ill send pictures and evrything. dont bother replying, ill b on the plane. bye!
I sent it, and sat back to relax for... great, ten minutes. I had ten minutes to take probably the shortest nap I'd ever taken. Don't even bother, I thought. Who would wake me up? I looked up, and saw that the plane would arrive in an even SHORTER time. Wow, time passes by when your about to leave the only place you've ever known. My four suitcases beside me, I decided to get up, cause it would take a while to get up, with all the suitcases. I stood up, threw a carry-on on my shoulder, and placed the bars of the three other suitcases firmly in grip. One suitcase was smaller, so I placed it on top of one of the others, near the bar.
Great, five minutes until we were leaving. I made my way to the check-in, knowing I'd be mad if there was a long line. The lady stared, but I looked away.
"Two minutes to all who are leaving for Ireland, get ready. Get in line," she called into the speaker. "Check in."
I smiled politely, handing her my ticket kindly.
"Stand there, you will be able to go in in a minute."
"Right, I want to go that," I muttered.
I hadn't meant for her to hear, but she said, "Mmm, hmm. Don't complain to me when you get lost in Ireland."
Rude, much? I stared at her as she smirked, then smiled at the family waiting for her.
"Anyone who is waiting, you may go now, the plane is here," she called into the speaker, looking out the window.
I rudely smiled at her, and made my way to the plane that was awaiting me. My head high, I walked into first class, shoved my stuff in the storage space, and sat in the seat on my ticket. It was a seat by itself, but it was one HUGGGGE seat.
I looked around the plane, and the family that had distracted the speaker lady came in. They smiled at me politely, and sat down nearby. The little girl sat on the seat beside me, across the hall.
"Hi," she said quietly.
I noticed she was probably about ten, maybe older, maybe younger.
"Hi, what's your name? Mine's Alexandra, but you can call me Alex."
She smiled shyly.
"My name's Rita."
I smiled, liking the name. A foreign exchange student came to my school last year from Spain. Her name was Rita.
"Well, nice to meet you...." she said, filling the silence very awkwardly.
"You too."
An awkward silence followed. I had no time to fill it in, because someone came over the loud speaker.
"Everyone, buckle up. Your in for a ride. We will be taking off soon. We have found a runway. I repeat, buckle up," a muffled voice said.
I decided to do what he asked, and buckled up tight. The girl, Rita, decided to follow me and do the same.
"How old are you?" she asked.
"Seventeen."
"I'm eleven," she replied, smiling.
She put in earmuffs, a good idea for when the plane took off. It would pop our ears BAD. I plugged my ears and waited. I felt a bit of a lurch, and took my hands out of my ears.
I frowned, knowing I was on my way to misery... and Ireland. Couldn't forget that.
