"What the fuck!" James shouted, earning a smack on the head from Professor McGonagall.

All James did was sent her a glare and shouted again, "what kind of bullshit is this?!"

He proceeded to stand up, making his chair fall back in the process.

"Go." James saw Hermione mouth to a confused-gaping Harry and give him a slight push forward.

Harry did as told and stumbled.

James watched as everyone only stared at him and went into the back door.

"Everyone's dismissed! Off to your dorms!" Professor McGonagall ordered, and watched as everyone scattered out of the Hall.

"What the hell was that, Dumbledore?" James said furiously once he reached Dumbledore.

"Isn't it obvious, Potter?" Snape sneered. "Your rebellious son broke the rules."

James glared at Snape, making Madamd Maxime and Karkaroff uncomfortable. This man was nothing like the prankster–ex–auror they use to hear about.

"I believe I asked Albus, Snape. I don't remember mentioning your name once."

"Gentleman," Dumbledore spoke. "Why don't we go find out ourselves?"

They all nodded and followed Dumbledore to the chamber of the four champions.

"Madame Maxime!" said Fleur once they walked into the room. "Zey are saying zat zis little boy is to compete also!"

"What is ze meaning of this, Dumbly-dorr?" Maxime said imperiously.

"I'd rather like to know that myself, Dumbledore," said Karkaroff. "Two Hogwarts champions? I don't remember anyone telling me the host school is allowed two champions. Or have I not read the rules carefully enough?"

"C'est impossible," said Madame Maxime. "Ogwarts cannot 'ave two champions. It is most injust."

"We were under the impression that your Age Line would keep out younger contestants, Dumbledore." said Karkaroff, his steely smile still in place.

"It's no one's fault but Potter's, Karkaroff." said Snape softly. "Don't go blaming Dumbledore for Potter's determination to make his son just like him. A rule breaker. He has been crossing lines ever since he arrived here–"

"Thank you, Severus." said Dumbledore firmly, quieting Snape right away.

Dumbledore's attention went over to Harry.

"Did you put your name into the Goblet of Fire, Harry?" he asked calmly.

   "No." Harry answered.

"Did you ask an older student to put it into the goblet for you?" Dumbledore asked.

   "No." Harry said vehemently.

"Ah, but of course 'e is lying!" cried Madame Maxime.

"If he says he didn't do it then he didn't do it." James snapped.

"That's coming off of you only because he's your child." Karkaroff said.

"I'm not even going to lie, you're right." James said. "because he's my son I know when he's lying. You expect me to not defend him when Miss Tall–y over here is trying to call him a liar?"

"James, there's no need to get defensive." Dumbledore said.

"I believe James has the right to get defensive." said McGonagall. "It is his son after all, and he's being falsely accused. He's been my student for four years, he's been like nothing but my grandson to me and when he says he didn't do it, then he didn't do it. You of all people should know that Dumbledore."

"Yes, I understand. My apologies, Professor Potter."

"Yeah, you better." James said, his arms crossed.

"If Hogwarts has two champions, then it is only fair that our schools have two champions as well." said Karkaroff.

"While that would be fair," the man who was invisible till now, Bagman spoke up. "the Goblet of Fire won't reignite again."

"Well, I say let's do the normal thing that any other responsible adult would do," James said. "Let's just not let Harry participate and voila! problem solved."

"Again," said Bagman. "It doesn't work that way. Once you're chosen to participate, you oughtta do it."

James let out a frustrated sigh, "Let me get this straight– you need a parent's signature to allow your kids to visit a little village but parents don't get a say in whether their kids should participate in a deadly tournament? Again, I call bullshit."

"Ever since you have been with those Americans you've gotten a filthy mouth, Potter." Snape said to James.

"Yeah? Well, look at the fucks that I give. Oh, and it was actually thanks to Hydra, AKA half being Russians."

"James." McGonagall said sternly.

"Sorry, ma'am."

"You're actually going to let him participate?" Cedric asked. "He's a minor, the tournament's too dangerous for him to be part of."

"Thank you, only reasonable person here." James said. "And will you look at that? He's a teenager. You adults should start taking notes. 'cept you Professor McGonagall, you're great just the way you are."

"It has been settled," Dumbledore said. "Harry will participate."

Harry and the other three champions widened their eyes.

"But I don't want to participate!"

   "He shouldn't participate!"

"James, Harry... I'm sorry, but rules are rules." Dumbledore said to the two Potter boys.

"Rules can kiss my arse! Why won't you just listen to me?! Bloody hell, he's fourteen!"
James said angrily.

"James—"

Dumbledore was rudely interrupted by the older Potter, not that James really cared at this point whether he was being rude or not.

"Save it. We had a deal, we had a plan! and so far nothing's going out the way we need it to."

James stormed out of the room, Harry following closely behind.
