In 2018, a small group of extraterrestrials known as Cicadians crashed on Earth. They discovered the yellow Ray's of the sun, gave them the energy they needed to ascend into their celestial form. Guarded by a highly advanced android, the Cicadians l...
Marcus led them into a round room with a large pillar in the middle surrounded by six stasis chambers. Different control stations were placed in intervals around it. He walked over to one that looked like a floating black table with a grayish frame and tapped the bottom edge. It lit up neon blue as a holographic still image of a single Basinite popped up. It's tentacles was in the motion of it running, with its round black bulbous body stretched forward, mouth wide open and teeth blaring.
"Ok, what all do you know about these things so far?" Marcus asked as he turned and looked at the group.
Everyone turned and looked at Andro as he looked around the room, impressed by sophisticated equipment.
"From what I gathered so far, is that they're highly adaptable probes hell bent on wiping you guys out, but it's almost like they have a deeper purpose." He said as his gaze finally ended on Marcus. "It's too systematic in their attacks. Like they're making a clearing for something."
"Exactly," Marcus said as he wiped his hand through the image. "These guys are just Harbingers for something much worse."
The image changed to a large spaceship that somewhat resembled a double bladed axe rotating in the center.
"It took a few years, but we managed to decipher most of its language. This guy right here is known as a collector for a race called the Ty'kree, but that's not the worst of it." He said as he pointed to the hologram. Looking at the group, he continued on. "Its not us or the planet he's really interested in. We're just in his way. It's our sun. He's only gathering the material he needs from its surrounding planets to build a Dyson's Sphere. He's already started the process and our planet was the last on the list to finish it. He's after our iron and diamonds. Unfortunately for us, even if he left us alone and went straight for them, that's pretty much the whole of our core and mantle." He finished as he looked at the group.
After a few seconds of registering the information, the Captain finally spoke.
"You said it took you a few years to decipher their language, which means you knew about these things before they came last year, and you couldn't warn us." He said, more of a statement than a question as he looked at Marcus wanting to punch him in the face.
"Yes, and your government was informed. That's how we got the backing for these facilities. We're assigned to study them and find a way to beat them. We were successful in achieving that but unfortunately not in time." He said, the last somberly as he looked at the floor in sorrow. "He doesn't see us as an intelligent species. Our solar system, to him, is more like a construction site. These Basinites are just clearing the area, namely, us, for his mining of the materials he needs."
"I see." The Captain said as he looked at the image of the Ty'kree ship rotating above the table. "Were you able to find out if any other species survived his collection runs?"
"Unfortunately not yet, but there are still a lot of files that we haven't even touched yet." Marcus answered. "What we did find out though, is a better way to protect ourselves from the Basinites." He finished as he looked at the group with a wide smile.

"When the equipment is used in conjunction, they have no adaptable defense against them." Marcus started as everyone entered the hanger bay. "They're made from the same material as the Basinite's outer shell, with a slight improvement. We managed to get extensive detailed information on the Basinites. These things are no joke, and have a lot of adaptable capabilities. Some we weren't able to compensate for so we worked around them and came up with these." He finished, the last as he indicated the tanks and fighter crafts.
The group all looked at them, impressed by the designs. He led them down the stairs into the first chamber to one of the sentry tanks. Walking around to the back of the closest tank, he pulled out a small tablet and pushed a few buttons. The tank, which almost looks like Batman's tumbler version of the batmobile, lit up and lifted its body, as it activated and rolled out of its docking port onto the main floor. Its main cannon and two side plasma rocket launchers emerged from the top and rotated a full three hundred and sixty degrees before settling down.
"Cooool!!" One of the soldiers said as they all looked at the tank going through its precheck list.
"Just like your sentry tanks, they're all automated, but they can be piloted by a single person if need be. They also have a bonus learning algorithm as well. The improvement to the hull is nanotechnology, which the Basinites can't duplicate. It's kinda funny considering the race that built them is a third class civilization. However, they are very good at biotechnology, quantum technology, and a few other things we can't even begin to explain. Anyway," he pushed a few more buttons. "These guys do their thing while you guys do yours." He said as he led them past the tanks into the second chamber.
They made it to the main floor just as a craft silently floated out from its docking port. It's sleek white and orange near diamond shaped design rotated in place as they approached.
"He communicates on a quantum level so trying to talk to him is impossible at the moment." Marcus started as he faced the group. "He keeps track of these things, so the working theory is that if we can destroy enough of them, if not all of them, then he'll at least wonder what the hell is going on and notice us as intelligent enough to leave us alone if not establish some form of communication. These, the tanks, and..."

"these guys are what's going to help you do that." He finished as they heard the sound of something galloping from a third chamber.
A large orange and black almost beetle looking exosuit walked out from around the floating craft and stood next to Marcus. Its body lowered as the canopy opened, allowing Marcus to sit in the cockpit. The canopy closed as it rose back up. Two encased propellers lifted from the sides near the top, rotating, lifting the four legged craft slightly off the ground.
"Where does he get those wonderful toys!!" A soldier said, quoting Joker's famous line from Micheal Keaton's Batman movie.
