Present

It takes two hours to get ready, back to the docks, and to the paintball arena. Nathalie is the most excited about paint-balling—and grateful to be off the waters. She is beaming brightly as she talks animated about any and everything. Miranda is keeping a neutral face, but I can tell that all she wants to do is lay in bed and cuddle with Sam.

Sam—is ten seconds away from spilling her guts in the nearest bush. I arch my eyebrow while watching the adults. I wondered what happened last night while we were asleep, and Delilah was dealing with her emotions towards Piper.

Speaking of—I watch as Delilah tries to insert herself in the conversation Piper is having with the others. She's being nice—too nice. Pointing things out that she knows Piper likes, complimenting Piper outfits, and blueberry pancakes this morning—I haven't seen a tray of blueberry pancakes in two years. Piper is trying hard to not cave to Delilah's intentions but sooner or later she's going to break—hopefully, all of this anger will finally come to an end.

That's if Piper will ever get passed the fact that Delilah lied to her for months—I know that had to hurt.

"Are you okay?"

I snap out of my thoughts and force a smile for June—she's looking at me skeptically. "I'm fine." I apologize. "Sorry, I zone out sometimes."

"There is nothing to apologize for—" June starts. "However, you should leave Piper and Delilah problems to their selves." She pauses. "Remember what happened the last time—"

I clench my jaw—suddenly I'm annoyed. "It's not that simple." I chew on my bottom lip. "Delilah is my twin sister and Piper is my best friend." I pause. "Or she used to be—she cut me off to you know?"

"You can't always be there to fix Delilah's problems." June replies ignoring my last question. "She will have to figure this one out on her own."

"She's trying." I don't know why I'm so quick to defend Delilah, but no one understood Delilah like I did—not even Piper. "Piper is playing dirty—using Zoey to make Delilah jealous."

June pause and she turns red for a moment, "I told them it wasn't a good idea—" She pause and overthink her words. "I will say this and then leave it alone." She chews on her bottom lip again. "If Piper means so much to you—why didn't you tell her the truth? You knew Delilah was never going to spill the truth until the last minute."

"Delilah is blood." I settle with.

June cock her head to the side and she watches me for a moment before she nods her head. "I told Piper that—" June explains. "She was furious with you, but I made her understand that you couldn't betray your sister like that even if it was the right thing to do."

I frown, sadly.

June exhales and looks toward the head of the group. Delilah is whispering to Piper and Piper is trying her best not to laugh at whatever Delilah is joking about. Zoey is watching the two curiously, but Jayden is pulling her attention away and more towards him—I can see he is trying to defuse the tension Zoey has towards Delilah.

Zoey's a good friend—loyal.

"I was an awful friend." I conclude. "Disloyal."

We finally make it inside of the paint-ball warehouse. The staff speaks to us politely and we step in line for the gear. Sam passes over her membership card and platinum card and then we head into another room.
