Lily

Present

"Until next time." I repeat back towards June. I turn when I hear shouting coming from within the house. I sigh. Piper decided to leave with Nathalie and Rose and Delilah was speeding in her Mustang to—who even knows. I pull out my phone and try dialing her number but it was going straight to voicemail. I scowl. The shouting within the cabin becomes louder. I shift from side to side and June stares at me and says, "You can ride with us—"

"—it's okay." I smile. "I'm going to stay." I turn back towards the house where Sam and Miranda were screaming at the top of their lungs. "I don't want to leave Sebastian alone."

June glances back at Zoey and says, "I'm going to stay behind until Lily finds Delilah."

I narrow my eyes, "You don't have to—" but June is shaking her head and exiting the car. Zoey and Jayden say their goodbyes before also leaving the cabin—for good—I doubt they ever return. June and I walk back into the cabin and the screaming match is still going on in the kitchen. Sebastian is sitting on the couch with Bose noise cancellation headphones on while eating a sandwich and cookies. He barely glances our way as he stuffs his face with food and stares at the cartoons that are playing on the TV.

"You're always spoiling them, Sam." I can hear Miranda hissing in the kitchen. I guess they haven't heard us walk back into the home. "—and now look where we are. They are having sex under our roof."

I glance into the kitchen and I can see Sam shifting from one foot to another. "They are teenagers—" Sam blushes not really knowing how to put Piper and sex in the same category.

"That's the same thing you said when you picked Piper up from prison." Miranda snarls.

Sam rolls her eyes, "It was a holding cell, Miranda."

"I don't care." Miranda snaps. "This is your fault—every time I ever tried to discipline the children; you're always telling me—reminding me that I don't want to be nothing like my parents. I should have never listened to you—I raise Nathalie very well."

Sam rolls her eyes, "Nathalie barely could hold a conversation with a normal human being in her early twenties and you think you're mother of the fucking year, Miranda—I'm sorry I didn't want to send Piper off to boarding school."

I arch my eyebrow learning this new information.

Miranda stares at Sam like she wants to rip her head off—then her eyes are becoming red and teary. "I never said I was mother of the year, Sam." Miranda shouts but her voice is raspy. "But, we just caught our daughter in the bed with someone I see as my own daughter. They are mine—all three of them and they didn't trust me enough to come to me."

Sam exhales slowly and approaches Miranda slowly. "They are teenagers—" Sam whispers. "They wouldn't have told us—we are old and children don't tell their parents everything. I surely didn't—"

"That's not the point." Miranda scowl. "How long do you think this been going on?"

Sam rubs the back of her head and blushes, "I don't know. I don't think about those things when it comes to Piper—I guess it makes sense if you really think about it—maybe Delilah would have said something once she was ready."

"—she should have come to me." Miranda scowls. "I would have taken it better than finding them naked and—"

"Okay, yep, nope." Sam cuts her off. "We will never speak about what we saw today—ever and Delilah I don't know—"
