LILY’S POV
“Zayn, can we go home?”
“Yeah babe. Just tell me which bags are yours and I’ll put them in Louis’s car.”
I showed Zayn my bags and then sat on the bottom of the stairs. May brought me a box of tissues so I could fix myself before going outside. I took my mirror out of my purse; I looked good enough for a ride to Zayn’s place. Hopefully there won’t be any press.
I heard someone walking down the stairs. I figured it was Liam, but when I turned around I saw Harry. He looked confused. “What’s wrong Harry?”
He sat down next to me, handing me my phone. “Does May always talk like that?”
“What do you mean?”
“Does she always curse when she’s mad?”
I forgot that Harry didn’t like it when people cursed. May had stopped cursing for no reason. She only cursed when she was really pissed off. And Marina had really pissed her off. Like she was so angry I’m surprised she didn’t break my phone. “Only when she’s really angry or you are trying to hurt someone she loves.”
“Wow.”
“What?”
He shook his head, “It’s just, I’ve never seen anyone defend their best friend like that before. You guys must be really good friends.”
“You have no idea.”
Zayn and May walked in from carrying my bags to the car. Zayn handed me my crutches, “You should be using these. Just because you have a boot doesn’t mean you can walk on it all the time.” I gave him a look like, “I really don’t care right now”, but he insisted that I use my crutches. I took them and hobbled over to the boys to say goodbye.
I stood at the bottom of the stairs, “Bye guys! See you tomorrow.”
I pretended like I didn’t know they had just watched me have a mental break down. One by one they came down the stairs. Once they got to me, Niall whined, “You can’t go! We are having a Disney Movie marathon to cheer up Liam!”
“Yeah love, you have to stay! May can’t be the only girl! She’ll want to kill herself if she has to be alone with us for that long!” Louis said, making a puppy dog face.
I tried to think of a good excuse for me not to stay, but I couldn’t think of one. May nodded at me, silently letting me know it would be okay if we left. But then I saw Liam, happily browsing through his collection of movies to select the first one he wanted to watch.
He finally chose one and then walked over to us. “Okay, I can’t decide. Toy Story or Finding Nemo?”
“Toy Story! It’s your favorite one mate!” Niall voted.
“But I’m not really in the mood to watch it.”
I put my hand against Liam’s forehead. “No fever. Are you okay?”
He chuckled at me. “I’m fine. I just don’t really want to watch it. Hey, what do you want to watch Lily?”
“I’m going back to Zayn’s.”
Liam’s smile turned to a frown. “But you need to be cheered up as much as I do. Please stay. You can even pick your favorite movie! It doesn’t have to be a Disney movie!”
Zayn placed his arm around my shoulders. He sneakily leaned in and kissed me on the cheek. I looked up at him, “Do you want to stay?”
He shrugged. “Whatever you want babe.”
A huge smile came across my face and May’s face. “Do you have the Little Mermaid?”
LIAM’S POV
“Do you have the Little Mermaid?”
The question echoed through my ears. “Yes. It’s on the shelf over there.”
May walked over to the shelf to find the DVD. Everyone made themselves comfortable on the couch while Harry and I went to go make popcorn and bring out soda.
I opened the refrigerator and grabbed two bottles of Coke. I went to slam the door shut, but then Harry grabbed my arm. “Stop. Sit down. Tell me what’s going on.”
“Nothing Haz.”
He looked took me by the shoulders. “Liam, seriously. What’s going through your head right now? Why were you going to slam the fridge door shut?”
I shook my head. I cannot cry. I will not cry over something so small and stupid like this.
“Liam. Please.”
“The Little Mermaid was Danielle’s favorite Princess movie as a kid. She always wanted to be like Ariel. We wanted to go as Eric and Ariel to a costume party next month.”
Harry went to hug me, but I rejected it. “No. I’m stronger than this. I don’t have to cry over every single thing that reminds me of Danielle. I can do this. “
“Liam, it’s okay to be upset. You just lost your girlfriend.”
“No.”
I grabbed the soda and cups and marched into the living room. Harry followed me with the two bowls of popcorn. The DVD was already at the menu. “Okay” I grinned. “Let’s get this movie marathon started!”
*TWO HOURS LATER*
When the Little Mermaid was over I had to get up and leave the room. I just needed some time by myself. I couldn’t fight the tears any longer.
I made it look like I was going to the upstairs bathroom, but instead I headed straight of my room. I flung myself onto my bed and let everything out. All of the tears that had tried to escape earlier were on my pillows, leaving marks as they fell from my face. All of a sudden, I heard a knock on the door. “Go away.” I groaned.
The door was opened a little bit. “Can I talk to you?”
It was May. She was such a caring person, but I really didn’t want to talk to anyone right now. “I guess, but I don’t feel like talking.”
“You don’t have to talk, just listen.”
I sat up a little bit, leaning against my headboard. “Liam, I noticed that when Lily asked if you had the Little Mermaid, you got upset. And at first I didn’t realize why you were upset, but then when they were singing “Kiss The Girl” it hit me. Danielle loved the little mermaid.”
I looked at May, confused as to where she was going with this.
“I have an idea, but didn’t want to bring it up in front of everyone. I was thinking that we could put on a play of the Little Mermaid and give all the proceeds to a charity that benefit cyber bullying.”
I thought about May’s idea for a moment. “I think that’s a great idea, but who would direct it and how would we get enough people to cast the entire play.”
“I was thinking Simon could direct it, we could use the place where the X Factor is filmed to perform and practice and we could ask the local high schools if their drama club kid want to join us. I’m sure if we tell them why we want to put on this play, everyone would agree.”
“Wow, you thought of all of this while watching the Little Mermaid.”
“Well, yeah.”
I smirked at her, “It sounds awesome. I’ll call Simon in the morning and arrange a meeting with him and Paul."
