Today is Eddie's birthday. He would be eleven years old now.
In my hand I held a small black gift box with a bright blue bow. Inside was a Guardians of The Galaxy digital watch he'd been begging Mom for before he died. My stepfather thought it was stupid to buy this for a dead person, but I feel Eddie deserves it. The moment I saw the tombstone, I seethed with anger.I ought to beat whoever engraved this with a stick. It pisses me off! My baby brother was dismembered, you can't just joke about that! It's sick!🤬😭
But nevertheless, I placed the gift next to the gravestone. I sealed the box tightly so the gardener or tenants wouldn't try to steal it. Then I sat down in front of the grave, my black pants getting damp from the spring dew and let a few tears fall.
Why would anyone do this? Sure Eddie was a mean kid, but he didn't deserve this. He was just a kid!
It's been a year and the police have recently deemed it a cold case and buried it like it never existed. My mother is in a psych ward after she claimed she saw monsters above her when she found Eddie's body—most of it at least. My stepfather, Lee, acts as though nothing even happened. Instead he goes on dates with girls and drinks. I placed my hand on my cheek, where a bruise was already formed. I got it when I tried talking to Lee about Eddie or mom. Needless to say he just wanted me to shut the hell up.Lee: Jessamine!! Come on we gotta go!!
I hear Lee's voice calling from the entrance of the cemetery. I sigh, placed my forehead against the cold wet stone, and stood up to begin my walk home with Lee.
I swear, whoever is responsible for this, I will keep my promise and kill them...
