"Hello there, (Y/N)."

You looked up from your phone to see the familiar platinum blond-haired boy looking back at you. Was this guy following you or something? Whenever you were training in the Galar Mine, you swore he was there too.

"Ah, hey Bede. I've been training for the past few hours, are you up for a battle?" You asked with a small smile. He scoffed at you.

"Normally I wouldn't waste my time battling someone as weak as you, but I suppose I can make an exception today," He said with a smirk as he ran his fingers through his curls.

You raised an eyebrow. "I have literally beaten you twice in the past week."

Even in the darkness, you could see his face heating up. "S-so? That was just pure luck, and I wasn't even trying," He said folding his arms across his chest.

You laughed. "W-what's so funny?" He asked.

"You!" His annoyed and shocked expression just made you laugh even more.

"Ugh, whatever. Let's just get on with this," He said, glaring at you.

"Aww, come on Bede, don't act so mean all the time. You know you love me!" You exclaimed, although your choice of words didn't process through your mind until you saw his wide eyes.

You could feel the blush creeping up on your cheeks. "Oh! U-um, I mean yeah, let's battle now," You said with a nervous laugh. Both of your faces were redder than a Cherubi.

~time skip to after the battle~

"Haha! Another win in the books! I guess all my training has paid off," You grinned happily as you put your hands on your hips. Bede avoided your gaze and furrowed his brows.

"Yeah yeah, whatever. You haven't gotten THAT much stronger," He said.

"It's okay Bede, I'm sure you'll beat me one day," You teased him as you laughed.

"You're lucky I like you too much to punch you right now," He mumbled.

He thought you couldn't hear him, but you did. You stopped laughing and looked up at him. "You really mean that?"

He blinked at you as his cheeks got red once again. "I- no! I mean, maybe... Ugh!" He buried his face in his jacket, embarrassed.

"Aww... I like you too!" You gently set down your pokéballs and walked over to give him a hug. You wrapped your arms around him, and he very hesitantly placed his around your waist. You two stayed like that for a while.

"We should train together more often," Your words were muffled since your face was pressed against his jacket.

"Yeah, I'd like that..." He said softly. You tried to let go of him to go and grab your bag, but his grip against you slightly tightened. "Can we stay like this for a little longer?"

You laughed and put your arms back around his neck. "Of course..."
