Pokémon Sword and Shield Oneshots!

a/n: sorry for not updating in a while! hopefully this is good enough for now, i have a lot of ideas in store for later :D remember you can leave requests on the first page!

Everything was pitch black. You couldn't see or move, but you could hear the sounds of the snickering pokémon in the forest. You should've known better than to come into Glimwood Tangle alone, especially since the pokémon inside were notorious for playing tricks on trainers. So now you were laying on the dirty floor in the woods, unable to see or move anything.

Please let this wear off soon, You thought silently to yourself. These kinds of tricks never lasted for more than an hour, but it would be super embarrassing for another trainer to discover your seemingly lifeless body in the middle of the woods.

However, your fear came true as you heard footsteps coming towards you.

"Oh, you have got to be kidding me." You heard a male voice walk over to you and crouch down. You swore you've heard that voice somewhere before, but you couldn't remember where. Their hand touched either side of your face and then your forehead. "Tch. Well, you seem to be alive," he mumbled.

You heard him set a bag on the floor and rummage through it. The sound of a liquid being shaken in a bottle was all you heard, and then you felt the mist from what you assumed to be a paralyze heal. Energy immediately coursed through your body, and you slowly wiggled your fingers and toes. Your eyes opened to meet the bright purple ones staring back at you.

"Bede?" You asked in disbelief. You hadn't heard much from him after his incident back in Stow-On-Side.

He glared at you. "(Y/N). You're lucky I took the time out of my day to come and check on you. I could have left you here, but I was feeling rather generous today."

He still had that same snarky attitude. "Oh... Well, thank you. I appreciate the help," You said, flashing him a quick smile as you sat up.

He looked away with a "hmph." You set your hands on the ground and pushed yourself up so you were standing. Bede was still on the ground, so you offered him a hand. He just gave you a cold look and stood up by himself.

After a few moments of uncomfortable silence, Bede asked, "So... what did you even do that got you paralyzed?"

You rubbed your neck sheepishly. "Heh... I think I took a berry from one of the Morgrem. I should have known better," You said with a small grin.

His expression became unreadable to you. "Yeah. I've been spending a lot of time in this forest, so I know how the Pokémon can be sometimes."

You looked up at him. "Huh? Why have you been staying around in Ballonlea?"

Bede looked off to the side and ran his fingers through his curls. "Actually... You know Opal, the former Ballonlea Gym Leader? She retired, and wanted me to take her place." He said it so casually, as if it was nothing.

Your jaw dropped. "You're a gym leader now? That's crazy!" You said with excitement.

He just smirked at you. "I know. I'm pretty strong. Speaking of which, you'll have to battle me to get the fairy badge, right?"

The thought hadn't even crossed your mind yet. "You're right! I was actually headed to Ballonlea, before this little incident..." You trailed off as your cheeks flushed.

"Huh. Well, just know that I won't go easy on you. It'll take a lot to beat me," He said as his eyes met with yours.

"Ha, as if! I bet I'll beat you on my first try!" You said in a joking tone, sticking your tongue out. Bede's face turned bright red at your reply.

"W-what? No way!" He crossed his arms and buried his face in his jacket. You giggled at his response.

"I'm kidding with you! I know you're a great trainer," You said, smiling brightly. This only made his face turn redder.

"Ugh. Whatever... I've got to get back to the gym, okay?" He said.

Some part of you didn't want him to leave. "Aw... Well, I'll see you around! Thank you for everything!" You smiled once again and turned on your heel to leave. Just as you were walking away, you felt Bede grab your wrist.

"(Y/N)! Uh, I want you to have this," He said quietly, handing you what seemed to be a league card. You took it and put it in your pocket.

"Oh! Thank you! I guess I'll see you again when we battle, huh?" You laughed, your eyes meeting with Bede's.

His expression was a lot softer than it was before. "Yes... I'll look forward to it."

The two of you waved goodbye and walked opposite directions. Once Bede was out of sight, you took his league card back out of your pocket. His photo was him in the fairy type uniform, smiling and holding a pokéball. You found it absolutely adorable! You flipped the card over to read his information, but was caught off guard. He had written his number on the back along with the words "call me." You blushed furiously at the thought, and couldn't help but feel all warm and fuzzy inside.
