"Mum?" The young boy asked his mother who was currently slouched precariously on the shabby sofa on her 4th glass of wine. "What do you want Kai?" She returned sourly, she didn't want to be disturbed whilst she was drinking, she wanted to drink in peace. Kai was an inconvenience to her and she wanted him to go.
"I just wanted help with this." He stated as he thrust his maths homework towards her. She groaned and sat up in her drunken state. She looked into his soft, gentle brown eyes with a dark stare.
"I don't care about your homework. Go away. I don't love you. You can't live here anymore. I HATE YOU."
She collapsed back on the sofa. She was serious. He had to go. She hated seeing someone so pure in her corrupt life. She wanted to hurt him. She wanted to corrupt him. She wanted to ruin him.
Kai jolted up the stairs. He knew he would be seriously hurt if he didn't comply with her wishes. He grabbed his bag (a black backpack) and shoved in spare clothes, his school books, a water bottle and every bit of money he could find. Notes, coins, bank cards. He would need them all.
Finally, he grabbed his coat from the stair bannister and walked to the front door. He turned to look at his mother.
"JUST GO ALREADY!" She screamed in a fit of anger as she threw the now empty wine bottle at him. He stared at the shards of glass, opened the door, and left.
He was never going back there.
