They were just standing there, awkwardly staring at each other, neither of them know what to say. Amelia decided to break the silence. “So what are you trying to say?” she whispered sounding broken and confused. Darren looked at her coldly but didn't say a word. She looked down trying to fight back the tears. After everything she had done for him, everything they had been through together, did their friendship really mean that little to him? Was everyone right about him? She was lost in her thoughts when she noticed he had turned around and was beginning to walk away.

She was angry now. She believed he owed her answers and he wasn't trying to give her so much as a word to explain what was going on. She ran after him and grabbed his arm, which he quickly jerked away. “DARREN!” she yelled. You could hear the hurt in her voice. He stopped and turned to look at her. “WHAT!” he yelled back. He hadn't wanted to do this in person but she insisted. He hated seeing the hurt in her eyes but he had to end it. He was becoming too attached and she was making him feel, which he hated.

“You owe me more than what you are giving me.” she said staring up at him, her tears betraying her, spilling over her eyes. He stared at her, just wanting to comfort her, but he couldn't. He was doing this for a reason. They would both be better off without each other. “There is nothing to say. I just don't want to see you anymore. I don't want to be your friend or even be around you. Is that explanation good enough for you?” he said as he looked away from her. He needed to get away from her before he lost his nerve. He turned around and began walking away from her again.

“But I love you.” she whispered as the tears poured down her face. Did he really just hear what he thought he heard. “What!?!” he asked in disbelief. “I... I'm in love with you.” she whispered again, wondering why it took her until now to realize it. She sat down on the curb and put her head in her hands. She had loved him from the moment she met him but she was just now realizing it. She was in disbelief herself. He stood there stunned, not knowing what to do. He never thought their friendship would come to this, after all, no one had ever really loved him.
