Darren rolled his eyes as Kevin was talking to him behind the bathroom door. He was annoyed with himself for even agreeing to go on this stupid double date. How pathetic was this girl that she couldn't get a date on her own. He had only told his "friend" he would go so that he could keep up appearances. He wanted people to believe he was normal and that he fit in, even if that was completely false. While he sat on the edge of the bed, waiting for Kevin to finish getting ready, he thought back to the first time the two met. It had been nearly four years ago, but with his memory, he remembered it as if it were yesterday. He had gotten back from Italy when he decided to hit the town. He wanted to see what the night life was like and hopefully catch a bite to eat.

He was on the prowl when he spotted what he was in the mood for. Ten feet from him stood a beautiful blonde who smelled incredible. He was walking over to introduce himself when a boy, not much younger than him, ran into him, spilling his drink all over him. He was angry at the boy but became even angrier once he looked up and his prey was gone. He would have killed the boy right there, but there were too many witnesses.

The boy looked at him, trying not to laugh, and apologized. He offered to buy him a drink but Darren didn't want the alcohol the boy was offering, he had something else in mind. Still, to avoid attention, he accepted the boys apology and drink. He sat at the bar all night watching the boy. The boy couldn't have been more than twenty-one. He had light brown hair that was buzz cut. He was about two inches shorter than Darren but still about six feet tall. He had a muscular build, probably some type of althlete. He would have made a good meal but Darren couldn't help noticing how charismatic the boy was and all the people surrounding him seemed to be friends of his. Watching the boy even more closely he noticed he had a way with people. Maybe this boy could serve a greater purpose, other than dinner. He could use the boy to help him fit in so he was more inconspicuous. The more inconspicuous he was, the better he could keep his secret.

Later that night the boy was sitting beside him ordering another round of drinks when Darren decided to introduce himself. He learned that the boys name was Kevin and he was a student at UCLA. Darren knew he had to play his cards right. He didn't want Kevin to think he was odd by trying to get to know him too fast. He had to take his time, he had to make sure they became good friends, so the boy could serve his purpose.

Two years later, they had become best friends, at least in Kevins eyes. Darren had business to attend to in Italy and Kevin offered him a place to stay when he decided to come back. And here they were, getting ready for a double date that he really didn't want to attend. His thoughts were interrupted by Kevin clearing his throat. "Quit daydreaming loser." he joked as he finished buttoning his shirt. "Oh I'm sorry, I just can't get your girlfriend out of my mind." Darren laughed while dodging a pillow Kevin threw at his head. "You throw like a girl." "That might be true," Kevin said, checking himself out in the mirror, "but I'm the one with a girlfriend." "I'm saving myself for when your girlfriend decides she wants a real man." Darren said laughing as he pushed Kevin away from the mirror.

"What time are we supposed to be leaving?" Darren asked, getting annoyed by how long Kevin had been taking to get ready. "We are going to meet them at the resturant at seven." Kevin answered while putting on his shoes. "You know we are never going to get there if you don't quit primping. I mean, honestly, do you really have to look in the mirror a million times to check your hair?" Darren asked not expecting an answer. "What has your panties in a wad. Are you excited about meeting your future wife?" Kevin asked with a sly grin on his face. Darren just rolled his eyes and asked, "Are you ready or not?" "Yep." was the answer received.

"I'm driving!" Kevin yelled as he and Darren walked out of the house. "Well seeing as I don't know where we are going, I kind of already figured that." said Darren as he opened the passengers side door. They both got into the car and began driving. "So," Darren said after five minutes into the drive, "why can't this girl get a date of her own?" Kevin just shrugged and then came to a stop light. "I don't think she can't find a date. If she wanted to she could probably have a different date for everyday of the week. She's just a little odd." The car began to move again as Darren sat there thinking. He thought all humans were odd, the way they acted and seemed to feed off of their emotions, but the thought vanished as Kevin started the conversation back up.

"I think you will like her. She's definitely easy on the eyes if you know what I mean." Kevin said laughing. Darren just nodded his head, he hadn't been attracted to humans since he was one. As for liking them, that was something to laugh at. If he didn't kill them then he was using them for his own personal gain. The meant nothing to him. They were too weak and fragile. It didn't take much to kill them. Their lives meant nothing to him.

They arrived at the resturant, it was a quaint little place called Heaven's Stairway. They had parked the car and began walking in when Kevin's cell phone rang. "Hello?" he answered. "Alright babe, we'll see you soon then." he said, then hung up the phone. "They will be here in about ten minutes." Kevin said to Darren while walking into the resturant. "Wow, and I thought we were going to be the ones who were late." Darren said as he and Kevin walked up to the hostess desk. "Reservation for four." Kevin said to the woman standing at the hostess desk. "Name?" she asked, smiling back. "Hodgens." he said. "Right this way please." she replied, taking them to their table. "Your server will be right with you." she told them, giving a seductive smile to Darren before she walked away.

Meanwhile, Katy and Amelia just pulled into the resturant. "Are you nervous?" Katy asked while looking in her purse for her lip gloss. "No." Amelia answered while looking out of her window. "Then what's wrong Lia? I mean you look like your puppy just died." Katy said. "Nothing. You know how I am. I just don't like the pressures of dating. I see what it can do to people. Plus it doesn't help that I don't know they guy, or anything about him." Amelia stated. "Well what's more do you need to know to know other than he's hot!" Katy exclaimed. Amelia just rolled her eyes and said, "nothing I guess." and continued to stare out of her window. Katy applied her lipgoss and then told Amelia to look at her while she added some to her lips too.

"Are you ready?" Katy asked, opening the drivers side door. "It's now or never." Amelia responded and got out of the car. They walked into the resturant and asked the hostess to show them to their table. Before they had entered the main dining area, Amelia grabbed Katy's arm to get her attention, and told her she was going to the bathroom and would be there in a minute. "You better!" Katy glared as she watched Amelia walk away. "Hey boys." Katy said as she came to there table. She pecked Kevin on the cheeck as he got up and pulled out her chair for her. "Where's Amelia?" Kevin asked, "did she change her mind?" Katy elbowed him in the side and said, "no, she'll be here in a minute, she just ran to the restroom."

Amelia was sitting in a bathroom stall, trying to calm herself down. She didn't do well meeting new people and of course she was nervous. She wasn't going to tell Katy that though. She would have just made it into something it wasn't, like she always did. Amelia took a deep breath, telling herself it would be fine. She walked out of the stall, over to the sink, and washed her hands. "It will be over soon." she told herself before walking out of the bathroom.

She made her way to the main dining area and looked around for their table. After searching for a minute, she saw Katy waving to get her attention. She sighed and began walking over. She saw her date sitting with his back turned towards her. She paused for a second, looking for a way out, but she knew it was too late. She made her way over to the table and when she had gotten to it Kevin was the first to greet her. "Hey Amelia, this is Darren." he said as she watched her date rise from his chair.
