Philip Garner picked up the phone on his desk.
“Hello? Hello! Hey, uh, I thought I might record a message for you...” He continued to spout his expertise into the receiver, hoping the next Night Watchman would heed his advice. He finished up with what he thought they would need to hear, careful not to include anything discriminating against Freddy’s Pizzeria or it would be deleted. That meant no death or scaring them off in any way. In other words: lies and carefully avoiding certain topics. He put the phone back on its hook and leaned back in his chair. He glanced at the camera. Bonnie had left. Time to begin...
Philip finished his explanation of Foxy’s behaviour, checking up on said animatronic as he did so. The bastard was peeking out from his curtain. He frowned at him and put the camera down, checking the door lights.
“Sup Chica,” he smirked, shutting the door on her face. He held the camera back up to his face. 2am, what choo goan do ‘bout it?
Philip grimaced, holding the camera in one hand as he spoke into the phone in his other one. “Hey, uh, things start getting real tonight.” That sounded dumb; weren’t things real enough already? Oh well, nothing to do but keep talking. He whistled as he flicked to Pirate’s Cove. Empty...? Shit. Door, close. Bang bang bang bang. Always four times. Why? Who knows. Philip was getting tired of this. Two more nights. He would make it.
“Hey, uh. I might not be around to record a message for you tomorrow...” bang bang bang. Foxy’s face was partially visible through the left window. Bonnie couldn’t squeeze in, so he had hung back in the backstage. “It’s been a bad night...” bang bang bang. Philip couldn’t close the left door; someone had hacked it. “Could you, ah, check the suits in the back?” Chica moaned her ghastly moan. Philip knew he was dead. Bang bang bang. “Oh no...” That cheery music started up, and Philip could clearly see Freddy’s eyes slightly illuminating his jaws below. Philip was shivering uncontrollably. He felt sorry for Foxy; he was wearing a really worried expression for some reason. He wondered why. Freddy grabbed him and dragged him backstage. The phone spun around on the desk a few times, before landing perfectly on the hook. The animatronics tore into him, they didn’t shove him into the suit like the manager’s cover-up had said, but just ripped him up in general, enjoying the blood on their paws. The last thought he had was: Where’s Foxy...?
Freddy chuckled manically as he tore the last untouched limb from the human’s body.
“Another good game!” he cheered.
“Game over!” Bonnie agreed. Chica giggled girlishly. She had a thing for Bonnie, but they were animatronics. They couldn’t love, could they? No, that was absurd. Freddy glanced around, realising the spare suits had been removed to be cleaned. He frowned as much as his permanent smile allowed. Over in the corner, covered in spare parts and other robotic knick-knacks, was a mound of golden fur. Freddy rubbed his chin, smearing some blood on his fur. Minutes later, they had stuffed the last of Philip Garner into the Golden Freddy suit and hidden it back under the pile. It stuck out a bit more because of its new stuffing, but it was still pretty well-hidden. They shared a demonic laugh before heading back to their rightful places on the stage.

Mike!!!!! Philip cried silently. It’s me Mike!!!! Mike would have none of it. He held the camera console to his face, not daring to look at Philip for more than a few seconds. It’s me Mike, the guy on the phone. Phone Guy Mike, It’s meeeeeeeeeeeeee... Blood ran out of Philip’s eye sockets as he cried. His limp body faded away as his phantom body returned to its physical form that resided in the backstage. If he had stayed any longer he would’ve given Mike a heart attack. Or even worse, he would have distracted him from the doors. Philip was nothing now. He was a shadow of his former self; a ghost. No matter how much he tried, the only words he could manage were ‘It’s Me’. He tried writing it on Pirate’s Cove; he tried giving Mike visions to tell him the truth. Hell, he’d even tried calling him! But nothing worked. He had to work harder! He had to learn to talk! He had no idea how many years it had been since then, but the place had closed down and been rebuilt. A new Night Watchman had appeared. Philip knew what he had to do. Using his paranormal powers, he made the phone ring. The watchman on duty jumped, then picked up the phone. Suddenly, Philip was back to his old self. He had to keep his job! If he told the newbie the truth, he’d lose his job! So Philip told the newbie al about the new animatronics, keeping his info strictly to what the newbie needed to know. He then hung up, returning to his depressed, ghostly self. What the hell had happened? His mind had changed, as if he were no longer in control of his own body. He knew though, that it had been him in control. The old him, the real him. He sighed, and would have slumped had he possessed the ability to sit up.
