Six years later...
“Hello madam, and welcome to Frankie’s Fun Zone,” Steve greeted. He was dressed in an official-looking red waistcoat with a black bowtie and clean white shirt and trousers underneath. He walked past the foyer and glanced left and right at the adjoining rooms. Freddy tipped his hat to him.
“Heya Steve!” Steve waved back. Six years ago, it had taken some doing, but he had been washed to the point where he’d looked brand new, same with the rest. He still had that shine today, maintained at the end of every week as he was. In fact, after the initial repairs and restorations, they had had several other key systems replaced to the point where Steve had trouble believing that their hard drive wasn’t the only thing left untouched.
“Mornin’ Steve!” Bonnie greeted, before turning back to the gaggle of children surrounding him, handing one a pink balloon. Steve stepped aside as the kitchen door swung open. Chica rushed out, but paused for long enough to say:
“Oh, hi Steve!” before delivering the hot, steaming pizza she held to the table it belonged at. Steve smiled to himself. This was not a restaurant, it was an entertainment centre for children, yet Chica had never given up her pizza-making talents and had requested for a cafeteria to be built. Ironically, her pizzas were so good that the instalment had paid itself off twice in the first week. Steve smiled and continued walking, past the arcade, ball pit, rock-climbing wall, picture booth etc etc. Finally, he made it to the manager’s office.
“Ah, finally!” Frankie cried, rolling his eyes. “And I thought you’d never show up. You know, I was this close to calling up a replacement for you!” Frankie exaggerated this point by holding his thumb and index finger a few centimetres apart.
“Good to see you Frankie,” Steve replied. They had been friends for five years now. Frankie had owned a small business back then, but Steve had suggested bringing in the animatronics which had brought in way more customers than Frankie used to get. Being best friends, Frankie had instantly promoted Steve to co-manager, though that was more for officials than anything. They ran the business together, and enjoyed it immensely. They shook hands vigorously.
“Good to see you too, though I think we both know who you’re really here to see,” Frankie added with a wink. Steve blushed, remembering that Frankie had accidentally walked in on Steve and Foxy’s first kiss a few months ago. “Just try to keep it PG, okay? You know how five-year-olds tend to wander...” Steve smirked.
“Will do boss-man.” He saluted Frankie, causing them to both burst out laughing. “Well, you better hurry before your robot-girlfriend dumps you.” Steve nodded and quickly exited the room before Frankie could make any more comments on the subject. He quickly made his way over to the ‘Pirate Seas’ room, where there was a pirate-themed playground, including a small beach and pirate ship, as well as the small stage where Foxy preformed. Steve pulled the stage’s purple curtains aside slightly. “Foxy?” he whispered. Something leaped out of the shadows, slamming into him and knocking him to the floor.
“Hello Steve,” Foxy murmured, now lying atop Steve. The new lightweight animatronic exoskeletons that replaced their old ones made her mass very easy to bear. Frankie and Steve had decided that it would be easier to avoid accidentally crushing children that way. Foxy hugged him tightly, before pulling away and gazing into his eyes. Her eyes, like the rest of her body, had been switched around with counterparts that looked a lot more human, though they still kept their amber colouring. Steve and Frankie had decided that the animatronics needed bodies to match their nature; incredibly human-like. So it was done, though they did not choose to over-dramicate the genders like the owners of Freddy’s Pizzeria had done with their Chica 2.0. Therefore, Foxy now had a slender and slightly curvy build that looked like it would be a little frail. She kept her reddish fur and ripped up pirate shorts, and even had an eye patch she could take off and put on at will, except this one wasn’t attached to her form like her older model’s one had. “You do realise my show starts in five minutes?” she asked. Steve smiled innocently.
“Then we better make this quick.” Foxy smirked playfully.
“Oh, there’s no such thing...” Then they kissed, as was usual with them.
“Foxy the children are about to come in! They’re really impatient –” Chica stood frozen in the doorway. “Today,” she finished, beak agape slightly. “Um, I’ll leave you two... alone...” she trailed off, smirking to herself. She quickly left the room.
“Duty calls,” Foxy sighed, slowly getting off Steve and allowing him to stand up.
“See you later?” Steve said, kind of in a questioning way.
“You know it,” Foxy winked at him, then pulled her eye patch on and opened the door. “Arrrr mateys! Welcome to the Pirate seas! There be some adventures to be had here lads and lasses...” Foxy started her routine with the children. Steve stood there, admiring how none of the animatronics never seemed to tire of entertaining young children, before remembering he had a job too. He slipped out of the room silently, looking forward to closing time.
