AN: I've seen some Dystopia!AU fanfics and some where certain characters (both OCs and not) were forced to take medications. So, mid-shower (let's be honest, half of our ideas come out from either inspirations from media or while we're in the restrooms), I thought to myself:

'Hey ******, you remember that one dystopia game we saw where the people were controlled via a certain drug? What if we did that?'

So, here's my take on it. Granted, it's somewhat changed to fit my vision. In this one, Jaune's...a bit traumatized, so if I offend any actual traumatized people, or you know someone that was traumatized, my apologies and condolences. It must've been hard to get through.

Disclaimer's in the first chapter. Please enjoy.

Inspiration: We Happy Few (Compulsion Games, We Happy Few was my first experience to a dystopia and I loved it, your game is so beautiful, pls don't sue me.)

Pyrrha didn't know what to think about her...quirky partner.

On one hand, he was really nice and friendly. On the very first day of Initiation, he walked up to her with a wide smile and a hand to shake like she was just a normal person, which was the exact reason why she left Haven Academy for Beacon! He was always social and enjoyed talking with other people, something her other teammates accepted and maybe enjoyed.

Yet on the other hand he was, in Weiss' words, somewhat of an idiot. He definitely wasn't among the best academically and didn't have such a good memory either: always forgetting the simplest things if someone didn't remind him. Whenever he spoke, he would always trail off deep in thought and, when brought back to the conversion, completely forget everything.

This of course doesn't include the more disturbing parts of him. She had been his partner for months now, and was never able to see his whole face. His body was often covered with a plain black hoodie and jeans, if not the school uniform, and his face was concealed with a white mask that had holes for his eyes and an opening in the form of a smile, which helped show off the grin he seemed to wear almost 24/7, regardless of the circumstances.

His fighting style had questionable bits as well. Despite his happy-go-lucky attitude, he wielded twin serrated knives with disturbing, ruthless efficiency. He carelessly cut into armor and flesh whenever he fought with that immortal smile branded on his face, humming the same tune everywhere he went. Some claim that he had bipolar personality disorder, others say he's just "bat-shit crazy", but Pyrrha wasn't sure if she'd prefer the truth or accept the unknown.

She looked at Jaune as he cheerfully popped a clear white pill into his mouth just as the bell rang for the next class. Pyrrha tuned out the portly professor's ending to another one of his stories of his youth, Jaune being the only one to applaud and rush over to the professor to question him more about the tale, of which the professor was happy to oblige.

A few minutes later, Pyrrha watched Jaune wave excitedly as he turned to leave, only to bump into a tall brunette and fall to the ground.

"Woops, didn't notice you there, Jauney-Boy!" Cardin Winchester grabbed Jaune's arm and roughly pulled him up, poorly disguising his continued hits against the teen as swipes to clear off dust. "You better be careful, huh Jauney-Boy? It'd be a problem if you bumped into someone that wasn't as nice as me, right?"

However, Jaune wasn't very affected by the obvious harassment, instead laughing as he eagerly shook Cardin's hand.

"Hahaha! Thanks for that for helping me out, by the way! Gee, I don't know what people are talking about, calling you a bully and all! You can be pretty nice! Welp, I'll see you in the next class, Cardin! Cheerio!"
