01 - Fearful

Chains. I heard chains. The horrible sound of moving chains. They roared and clanked together endlessly.

I opened my eyes. All I could see was darkness. However, I could make out the faint outline of barrels and other things that I couldn't see well enough to identify.

I was sitting down on a metal floor. My hands ran against it, it was smooth and cold. The wall I was sitting against was made of the same material.

Out of no where I started to hyperventilate. Everything caught up to me at once, I was terrified.

I had no idea where I was, who I was, I couldn't remember a thing. So, I started to cry. I curled up in the corner and put my head on my knees.

The roaring chains stopped suddenly. I didn't even bother to look up, I just cried. But then I heard a grating sound before a beam of light came through, it's heat covering my skin.

Voices began to talk. They said things like, "Oh look, we have another baby."

"Guy needs to cut his hair."

"He looks like a shucking girl."

Through all those comments I kept my head down. I was so scared, I didn't know who those people were, what they were doing to me.

I heard a loud 'bang' then foot steps. The person touched my shoulder and I squeezed my eyes shut, trying to block them out.

"Come on ya shank, get up," a deep voice said.

When I ignored him he grabbed my arm and started to pull me to my feet. My hair covered my face but I moved it back once he forced me to stand up.

I looked around realizing I was in a metal box, and above me were lots of boys staring at me. Next to me was a boy with dark skin, his eyes were opened wide.

I wanted to ask so many questions, but nothing came out. It felt like my tongue was knotted and my throat was dried up.

"Who are you?" the dark skinned boy asked.

I just looked at him, my mouth opened and closed right away. He just sighed and looked up at the others.

"Lets get her up!" he yelled.

A rope came down with a loop inside, the boy told me to step inside. I did as he commanded, out of fear. I was pulled up easily before being set on the ground.

As I was looking around I noticed that there were only boys. All different ages and sizes. But no girls at all. Just me.

The boy came out of the box and stood next to a blond guy. No one moved or said anything.

"What do we bloody do with her?" the blond asked.

My survival instincts suddenly kicked in. I pushed through the crowd of boys to reveal a field of tall grass and giant stone walls covered with thick green ivy.

In those walls was a huge opening. That was my chance to escape. I started to walk forward towards it, then I broke out into a sprint.

Boys began to yell at me and each other. I kept running and running until my lungs burned. I was so close.

Someone was right behind me, so I looked back. That was a mistake.

My body crashed into something and I was flung backwards. My head hit the ground, and hard.

My vision began to blur more, and more, with every second. I tried to sit up and stay awake but it was no use.

The last thing I saw was the blond boy's face in front of mine.
