This is one of my largest and most meaningful pieces and I'm pretty proud of it. I don't think that the photo gives it much credit because there are so many details. I spent hours on this project for my art class. The message is supposed to be about how we, as humans, are killing our planet.

Right now we are at a point where we can choose if we want to save our planet, or let it die. We have around 12 years to combat the climate crisis. Right now Australia is on fire. Right now Indonesia is experiencing record floods. Right now the polar icecaps are melting. Right now the US is experiencing record high temperatures for January.

Every day 200 species go extinct. We are living in the 6th mass extinction! It is entirely caused by human activity, yet we are doing next to nothing to help the problem. We are living in a climate crisis. And if we don't start acting now, we are all going to die and we will kill the planet with us.

I know the new year started a week or so ago, but I decided that one of my resolutions is going to be to live more eco-friendly. I started an Instagram account @living.greenly where I will post small steps that you can take to reduce your carbon footprint and help the environment. Going vegetarian or vegan, trying to live plastic free and reducing the amount of waste you create are all good steps that you can take. Please check out my account for more. I don't think that individuals can solve the climate crisis on our own, so we must all become activists and vote for politicians that are going to tackle this challenge head-on.

I think that creating art is a great way to raise awareness, so I'm going to try to do more of that. Also, if you can, participate in climate strikes and advocate for a greener world. Together we can do this, but first we must acknowledge that the climate crisis exists.
