I sat next to Hanzo where the land meets the ocean, the waves splashed up on the shore calmly. I held Soba, my dragon, tightly in my arms as she dozed off to the sound of the waves rushing up onto the sand.
"We leave tomorrow," Hanzo told me staring at the wide open ocean.
"And when we leave it's back to training," I replied running my hand over Soba's back.
Hanzo stayed quiet as he layer back against the piece of driftwood we used as a backrest. We watched as the sun trickled into the ocean and the sky lit up in a stash of colors, down in the water were Apalala and Tatsuya (Hanzos dragons) who gently drifted along the ocean sometimes diving underneath.
"Genji! Hanzo!" Father called for us, "it's time to get ready to go!"
"Apalala! Tatsuya! Come on," Hanzo called his dragons as we walked back to our father.
"I'd never hurt you, Hanzo, you know right?" I asked my brother.
"Is never hurt you either," Hanzo ruffles my hair as we felt the nice ocean breeze whisk us away."-enji!"
"Genji wake up!"
I woke up with my head in my hand at the cold steel meeting table, "sorry,"
"Just please don't fall asleep again," Reyes turned back to the board, "Jefferson should be heading to a L.A casino, we can pretend to be clients and take him down there, all right?"
"Yeah," Moira replied.
"Why not?" McCree was laid back in his chair next to me.
"I guess," I leaned back to sit upright.
"We will leave tomorrow then," Reyes sat down in front of a bunch of files, "you're all dismissed."
I left the room with my hands in my pockets and my head hanging low. I sat down on my bed as I entered my room falling asleep, let's finally get this man.~Time Skip~
I sat straight as Moira worked on putting on makeup to cover my cybernetics and scars. I just wasn't normal to them, nor to the omnics. I am the grey in a black and white world.
"There you go," Moira said as she lifted a mirror up to my face.
I looked at myself in the suit, the normal face, the gloves and I felt worse at the thought that I had to change to fit in, I knew that even when I was little, I was the butterfly in a field of hornets.
"Thank you Moira," I gave her a smile that masked my insecurities.
I got up before Moira could reply and I practically ran down to my room to be alone for the one hour we had left. I sat down on my bed touching the back of my neck which no longer had the wires sticking out of it, Moira said I could last the mission without them with a special device she had made. I stared at my reflection on the lonely mirror on the wall,I felt like something punched me in the gut staring at myself. I missed being human and not a freak but having to pretend that is the worse feeling.
"Knock Knock," I looked at the door and saw McCree standing there, fuck he's hot.
"You look good," I replied not able to keep the sadness out of my voice.
"What's wrong darlin'?" McCree noticed my voice and walked over plopping himself on my bed.
"N-nothing," I turned away but felt McCree's hand on my shoulder.
"Please," He said softly, "it ain't gonna help ya if ya can't talk about it."
"I'm not human nor machine," I started still turned away, "I'm a freak to everyone including myself, they don't like me for living... I-I... sometimes I want to give up."
"Don't ya dare say that Genji!" I felt McCree shift closer, "if you ultimately think that.. ya don't know what I'd do to change that for ya."
I felt him wrap himself around me and whisper "please don't," over and over again, his head nestled in my shoulder. I felt my breathe start to shake but no tears came, I guess I cried myself dry.
"I'm so sorry..." I told him as I shifted in his grasp to face him grabbing his shoulders and pulling myself into him.
"I love ya Genji. I don't know what I'd do without ya in my life," McCree said gently rubbing his hand in circles against my back.
"I'm sorry,"
"What are you sorry for?"
"The fact you love a freak like me," I pulled away feeling a tear run down my face as I left the room McCree trailing behind me trying to talk to me.
I ran onto the drop ship and sat down glad the makeup wouldn't wash off with water. McCree didn't come onto the ship, Genji remember you can't do this to him, he deserves better than you.
