I will fight
I will fight for you
I always do until my heart
Is black and blue

And I will stay
I will stay with you
We'll make it to the other side
Like lovers do

I'll reach my hands out in the dark
And wait for yours to interlock
I'll wait for you
I'll wait for you

'Cause I'm not givin' up
I'm not givin' up, givin' up
No not yet
Even when I'm down to my last breath
Even when they say there's nothin' left
So don't give up on...

I'm not givin' up
I'm not givin' up, givin' up
No not me
Even when nobody else believes
I'm not goin' down that easily
So don't give up on me

And I will hold
I'll hold onto you
No matter what this world'll throw
I won't shake me loose

I'll reach my hands out in the dark
And wait for yours to interlock
I'll wait for you
I'll wait for you

'Cause I'm not givin' up
I'm not givin' up, givin' up
No not yet
Even when I'm down to my last breath
Even when they say there's nothin' left
So don't give up on...

I'm not givin' up
I'm not givin' up, givin' up
No not me
Even when nobody else believes
I'm not goin' down that easily
So don't give up on me

Whoa, whoa
Whoa, whoa
Yeah yeah yeah yeah
Yeah yeah yeah

I will fight
I will fight for you
I always do until my heart
Is black and blue

"YOU ONLY HEAR THE MUSIC WHEN YOUR HEART BEGINS TO BREAK!! WE ARE THE KIDS OF YESTERDAY!" I yell at the top of my lungs as I drive down the street to Hugo's house, ready to pick him up for our weekly meeting. As I pulled over, I was greeted with him standing just off from the curb. "I didn't expect you to be out here waiting for me." I call from the window of the car. Hugo approaches me with a wide grin.

"I could hear you playing The Kids of Yesterday from down the street, so I came out to investigate."

~~

"So, we're going to start today by going around the circle and going over what you all have so far. It doesn't matter how much or how little you have. I just want to see where you are all at, of course remembering that no matter what you have, it will be presented in four weeks." Kathrine says, leaning back in her chair. Her leaning back actually proved to us she thought we had more than we did. "You guys start." She calls out, pointing lazily at Hugo and me.

"I know it doesn't look like much at the moment." Hugo begins as he begins pulling little stacks of paper from his backpack along with a couple of photos. "But this is what we have so far." Kathrine looks at the piles and smiles gently.

"You probably have a lot more than half of the people here." She stands up and walks over to where we're sitting and hands us both a sheet of paper. "Here's your next questionnaire, complete it by next week and I'll see you then."

~~

"So then, wanna head over to mine and start this questionnaire? It's only seven questions so it should be done quick right?" Hugo asks as he climbs into the passenger side of the car. I cringe a little and force a smile on my face.

"I actually have an appointment that I have to get too." I say quietly, driving away from the clinic. He nods understandingly and I smile again, speaking once more before he can. "It'll take a while, but you can come with me if you'd like."

"Is it like a job interview? Because I wouldn't want to interfere with that." Hugo mutters, looking down at his hands which were twisting in his lap, a nervous habit of his which I had picked up on.

"It was going to be a surprise for everyone but, I'm getting a tattoo. You really are welcome to come. I just sort of assumed it was something you would get bored of." I say with a laugh. He laughs along with me and rolls his eyes.

"Blair it's a type of art and I could never tire of any art."

~~

"Mikey look!!" I yell as we approach him, extending my wrist out to him. "I finally got the tattoo, hurt like a fucking bitch but it was well worth the pain and money."

"It looks great!! All you've got left now is the lip piercing!" He held my hand gently and twisted it, admiring the thick black lines from several different angles. "Shouldn't this be covered or something?" I laughed while shrugging and saw Hugo rolling his eyes.

"She tore the cover off the second we got in the car." He says with a smirk. Mikey looks between the two of us and it was hard to ignore his expression.

"You took him with you?" He asks, biting his lip to hide his smile.

"Yeah, is that an issue?" I say, asking him a question in return.

"No." He says, winking at me. "Not at all."

~~

"Alright then," I say, flopping back onto my bed and lifting the sheet to my face. "Let's do this then so I can go back to writing song lyrics and eating ice cream in a dark room." Hugo laughs a little bit and picks up his own sheet.

"Question one, how are you?" I stare at him not believing that could be a question on the sheet but answering anyway.

"I'm pretty darn good. You?"

"I'm there yeah." He finishes quickly. "Two, have you been eating better? Well, I have been, although I guess it's a little different with the lack of meat in my diet now." I nod slowly, remembering how he had decided to be a vegetarian a couple of weeks back.

"As previously stated, I'm waiting to eat a tub ice cream so I'm eating more, I don't know if you would say better but, definitely more." I pause and sigh realizing I was starting to blather. "Anyway, moving on, question three; are you aware you've now been working with each other for eleven weeks? Shockingly I actually was."

"Mmmm, ditto." Hugo replies shortly, writing down my answer before asking the next question. "Are you and your partner friends outside of completing the questions and our meetings? We go to a café on a weekly basis and hang out at school, I think we're friends, right?" He says with a huge smile, tapping me lightly with his foot.

"Of course, we're friends Hugo, you're not escaping me any time soon. Question five? Well, without even asking just write Alexis and Harrison, they're our friends, right? Yeah just write them down."

"Alright then, question six, have you ever consumed an illegal substance?" Hugo asks in a quizzical tone.

"I feel like Kathrine is trying to get us arrested rather than helping us." I reply smirking lightly. "Does underage drinking count as illegal?" He laughs a little at that and shakes his head.

"I think she's looking for another level of illegal, like something not everyone has done." He pauses and points at me with the end of his pencil. "Write coke for mine." He says nervously, avoiding eye contact.

"I don't think coke counts as an illegal substance Hugo, it's just a drink." I reply, setting down my pencil.

"Cocaine, darling."

"Oh, okay then." I write down his answer and frown. "Final question, what are you good at?"

"I'm not really good at anything." Hugo utters, running a hand against his thigh gently.

"Seriously? Bullshit," I say, causing him to raise his head in alarm. "You're a fricken amazing artist."

"I like to draw and look at art." He retaliates. "It's not the same, I'm comparing myself to Alexis, she's like fucking Van Gogh and I'm Cameron from Ferris Bulliers Day Off, admiring what I could never produce." He pulls on his jacket and waves as he walks out the door. "I'll see you tomorrow Blair."

Authors Note

I'm starting to realize all these characters are a little like me, especially Hugo and his love for art and how much respect he has for it. I know this is a shit chapter but next one will be better.
