Chapter 15

LUCY'S POV

" east." A voice called from the doorway. I didn't have to turn to know who it was.

" I know I know Steve. I heard that they were kidnapped." I say quietly.

His footsteps got closer and he stood beside me as we were looking out the window.

" how could you possibly hear that? That was on the 54th floor, your on the 76th. It's not physically possible." He said with his arms crossed.

I chuckled lightly." If you knew my story you would understand everything."

He turned to me with high hopes.

" but. I heard that you guys betted on who would get my backstory out of me first. So, no. Not until I can trust you."

Before I knew it , and before i was prepared for it, I was pressed against the window, Steve's face extremely and uncomfortably close to mine. He gripped my arm with force.

" I know you can't be trusted East. But we all have to. Because your a mutual part of the team and if we do not trust you, then well lose you. We trust you. Why don't you trust us?" He hissed in my ear.

I flinched at the touch and tried to struggle out of his grasps.

" Steve. Let me go before-"

" before what?"

I could feel the rage burning inside of me, itching to get out.

I couldn't and wouldn't let that happen today. I didn't want Steve to die, cause I wouldn't be able to live with myself if I hurt him.

Wait. Did I actually just say that?

" b-before she comes out." I stuttered, my body was turning deathly cold and sparks of electricity were shooting from my body.

He let go of me and stepped back, almost tripping over the couch on the way to the door.

" see. I'm a monster. Everyone is afraid of me."

I coughed out, falling to the ground.

Suddenly realizing his mistake he rushes over and kneels beside me.

" I am so sorry. I don't think your a monster. I just....don't know what your capable of and I...guess I'm afraid."

He said with a honest look of sincerity in his eyes. This, I could believe.

My body had started to warm up as much as it could and I was not shooting random sparks and ice from my body anymore.

I sighed with defeat and stood up." I might as well tell you Rogers."

He stands up as well, making sure I don't fall as we walk over to the couch.

" I'll tell you my story-"

I was cut off by Clint, springing into the room, a look of panic and fear planted in his eyes.

" what is it?" I ask quickly.

" t-t-Tasha's been kidnapped." He stuttered out.

I brought him to the couch slowly and carefully as Steve and I exchanged a worried look.

" their taking all the women." Steve says wisely, pacing the room quickly.

" you, agent Flynn, and Emma are next." He said.

I stopped in my tracks and turned around.

" there is no way on heaven or on earth that I am gonna let some imbecile kidnap me." I snapped , waking to my com device and speaking into it.

" I want every single person who is in this tower on my floor in two minutes. That includes mainly agent Flynn, and miss Hilt." I spoke, before slamming down the com line and sitting on the couch.

Steve sat next to me and from the corner of my eye I could see he was watching me.

" why are you staring at me?" I asked quietly, avoiding to look in his eyes.

He snapped out of his trance and faced the elevator where the rest had come in.

" what are we doing here? Having a party or something?" Tony asked, plopping himself on the second couch.

I shook my head and turned to Steve who nodded.

" Romanov's been kidnapped. Steve thinks and is probably right on the thought that whoever is kidnapping them, is going for the girls in this tower." I stand up an start to walk around the group.

" who exactly do you mean?" Thor asked.

" me, agent Flynn and miss Hilt. We're all next."

" but why go after the women?" Bruce asked. Thankfully he was calmed down after the incident earlier.

Steve spoke up this time." Because, their trying to lure us there. To rescue the women so we will fall into their trap."

I looked to the guys with a raised eyebrow." Seriously? Do you know how stupid it would be if you went to rescue them?" I asked.

They all shrugged." It doesn't matter, we need the girls back." Clint said.

" alright. We need to protect the remaining three. Two people on one. Fury and Thor will take agent Flynn. Tony and Bruce will take miss Hilt and lastly Clint and I will protect miss snooty pants over here." He said pointing to me.

They all nodded and took their spots.

I shook my head disapprovingly but ignored the nickname, walking over to the two with folded arms across my chest.

" there is no way you guys are gonna protect me. I won't allow it." I say.

They both chuckle and look at each other.

" too late. Your stuck with us."
