Chapter 14: Ten Years Later

“Come on Violet, its warm outside, grab your brother and let’s head to the island’s beach.” Erick helped me out of the boat. We’ve been there all winter and it’s time to go outside because it warm and nice. 

“How’s my beautiful wife and baby” Erick said speaking to my pregnant belly 

“Amazing, this weather is just beautiful, amazing. All these colors are magnificent. The sea seems so much bluer, and the sand much whiter.”

“It’s as beautiful as you.” Erick smiled

“Can you go and get Alex; Violet was trying to bring him to me.” I asked Erick 

“Come on, she’s 11, I think she can handle her 5 year old brother.”  Erick said while rolling his eyes.

“I’m going to go and make breakfast. Bring them to the beach; I want to spend some time with my kids after breakfast.” I told Erick as he went off to get them 

I stepped onto the island, and went to where Rex and Sam were making a fire for breakfast. 

“What are you doing here; you should be in the boat relaxing or on the beach playing in the sand with Alex and Violet.” Sam said

“I’m waiting for Violet and Alex so that we can play after breakfast. I going to go and get some pots and pans from the boat, along with some eggs.”

I went back to the boat and started to get some ingredients to make the food. I met up with Erick and the rest of my family and we started to go back to the island. Erick to the pots and pans from me and brought them to Rex and Sam. 

Violet grabbed my arm and brought me and Alex to the beach. She had all her sand building things all set out. I heard Archie call me and I went over to him, he was near a palm tree. 

“What’s up, do you need help with anything? I really want to do something. Erick doesn’t want me doing anything because he thinks that I will die or mess up the pregnancy like with Alex, when I almost died giving birth to Alex. So can I help you please!” I begged to Archie 

“Sure, we need fresh water, do you want to come with me to get it.” Archie asked and I nodded.

Archie gave me two buckets to fill up with water. We got to the small stream, Archie started to fill up his buckets. I bent down next to Archie and started fill up the buckets. I heard uneven foot steps behind me and I knew that it was Felix, he injured his paw a day ago and he started to walk in a weird way. Archie was so unfocused; I think that he didn’t here Felix. I a cold lick on shoulder, I petted Felix and he ran off back to Sam.

I finished filling up the buckets and brought them to Erick and Rex. Erick took the buckets from me and I went to sit next to my kids. We played in the sand and enjoyed the view.

“I love you guys”

“We love you too, mommy” said Violet with a smile on her face
