wow.

okay. so i can't believe it's really over. this is the first thing i've ever actually finished.

i just want to explain a couple of things:

daniel never met eve again because the story is about how she was his distraction to what was really going on in his life. because he hadn't found anything wrong with her she became the constant perfection in his very imperfect world.

daniel's father was an alcoholic and a violent one at that. when he got drunk he would lash out at daniel because he was there but also because he looked a lot like his mother. at first it was just fists but then it was glass bottles. basically, daniel got an awful hit to the head and his father didn't or couldn't do anything about it - like call 999. i didn't want to write this in detail because it's upsetting and i didn't want to trigger anything for you guys.

no, lacey and daniel didn't have any romantic feelings for each other. their relationship was genuinely strictly platonic.

thanks so much for the support, i cannot believe how far it's come over the past few months. this started out as a little project that i thought would get 1k views if i was lucky so the fact it has 300k and counting is just unreal.
