Years passed and the gang grew bigger. The Muppet Show was successful, few films were filmed, what more could they ask for.
Kermit, on the other hand, was beyond grateful for his dream come true. He was making millions of people happy by doing what he loved.
4:56 am
Kermit woke up to the sound of the house phone. He quickly walked downstairs and answered it."Hello?"
"Kermit?"
"Frank? What's wrong? You don't usually call late at night. Is everything okay?"
The gang were all standing behind him. They already heard about the bad news but they knew Kermit wasn't going to react well.
"Kermit, it's Jim."
"Jim? What's wrong with Jim?!"
Kermit slowly felt his heart sink. He grew up with Jim by his side. Jim was practically his father.
"Jim got really sick..and well..he didn't make it to the hospital in time."
"WHAT?! Frank please tell me you're joking!!" The frog asked as he felt himself having an anxiety attack.
Fozzie quickly placed his arm around Kermit incase he felt like fainting. Kermit felt himself shake as he hung up the call. The gang reacted quickly as they saw Kermit immediately fall to his knees.
Kermit couldn't help himself but to cry. He lost someone so important to him.
"He can't be dead!" Kermit cried, "He can't!"
"I know..but sadly he is." Piggy said as she wiped away her tears, "but we're gonna help you get through this. I know this is harder on you."
"I lost my dad.."
Those words broke Piggy's heart even more. Seeing her long time partner in pain really killed her inside. She was afraid that she would lose him, mentally, "Will you be happy..?"
"How do you expect me to be happy when I just lost Jim?" Kermit knew why she was asking, "I'll be fine..soon. Everyone go back to bed."
"No." Scooter said, "We're not gonna go back to bed knowing that you're heartbroken. The way you care for us when we're sad is the way we'll care for you now. You always seem to push people away when you're sad."
Kermit wiped away his tears and wrapped his arm around the gofer, "I just can't let you guys see me when I'm sad."
Fozzie, Gonzo, Piggy, and Rowlf all knew why. Kermit was their childhood friend and they've seen him go through it all, "Kermit, we know what you're capable of doing and we're not gonna let it happen." Rowlf said.
"I was young. I was only 15. I'm 35 now, I'm sure I have a better mindset than I did years ago. Just let me grieve okay?" Kermit said as he sat down on the couch, "Now I gotta figure out the funeral and all the money."
The gang knew how stressed he was before he got the call now the funeral costs is just adding even more stress to him.
Kermit was in his own little world as he kept thinking about Jim. His heart shattered even more as he thought of all the memories he had with him. The frog buried his face onto the palm of his hands and sobbed in pain.
The gang all frowned worried for what could happen to him. Fozzie and Piggy sat next to the frog and tried to calm him down.
Moments later, Kermit grew tired from his crying. Piggy helped him up from the couch and took him to his room.
"Piggy.." He tiredly said as he grabbed her hand, "stay with me tonight.."
Piggy heard the sadness in his voice and she knew he needed someone more than ever. She gave him a sad smile and nodded.
Piggy lied next to her Frog and watched as he placed his head on her shoulder and quickly drifted off to sleep. Piggy felt his soft breathing touch her neck and felt his tear drops fall onto her hand.
She kissed his head and sighed, "I love you.." and fell asleep with him holding onto her with his dear life in his sleep.
