He'd heard (more like overheard) Sakura telling Ino and TenTen that (Y/n) had been feeling down ever since the war was concluded. It had worried him, the thought of her dealing with grief and sadness on her own eating him alive. He didn't have to worry about her being homeless, his cousin was her roommate now, but that didn't mean he was any less worried! He'd thought to himself with a pink hue dusting his cheeks that he should do something nice for (Y/n), something to cheer her up!
In Naruto's current budget, that meant going out to get some ramen.
Naruto had shown up at Karin and (Y/n)'s apartment, it was just a few doors down from his own humble little abode. He couldn't help but be glad, in a way. She was so close, that meant he could keep a good eye on her if her issues started to flare up again.
"Hey! Wanna go out for some ramen? I'll pay!" Naruto said, his bandaged arm twitching slightly at his side. A side effect that would go away once he started to use it more often, or so Granny Tsunade said. Naruto would chew Sasuke out once he got out of prison for blowing his arm off like that, it was becoming annoying.
(Y/n) looked almost surprised to see her teammate there, her (E/c) eyes widening slightly. Naruto had lost his arm during his fight with Sasuke, she knew that, but was she expecting it to be so bad? No. She stopped trying to make Sasuke out to be a good guy when he tried to kill Sakura the first time.
"We haven't seen each other in awhile, so it'd be nice, wouldn't it?"♡
It had always annoyed Sasuke, but (Y/n) loved ramen. Sushi and Soba came close, but ramen was definitely number one. Maybe that had been why her and Naruto clicked so easily. Being put on Team Seven wasn't the moment (Y/n) saw Naruto Uzumaki as a cherished friend. It had been when she first met him in Ichiraku. He looked so lonely, and she recognized that feeling with an ache. They were only around seven at that point in time, but (Y/n) believed that she had gotten her first friend other than Sasuke.
Not that she saw him like that anymore, but that's besides the point."Thank you, Naruto." (Y/n) mutters softly, a gentle smile on her lips as she enjoys her steaming bowl of ramen. Moments like this reminded her of her childhood, though Kakashi-sensei kept telling her that she was a child.
A child with trauma, maybe.
"No problem! I mean, we haven't been able to talk much because I've been so busy!" Naruto said, waving his chopsticks in the air dramatically. He had that bright smile on his tan face. The smile that made (Y/n)'s stomach flutter. He was such a great guy. (Y/n) deduced two years ago that Uzumaki Naruto was like the sun. He was bright, and he nurtured even when he didn't know what he was doing. He was amazing and it was no surprise that people gravitated towards him like he was some sort of star.
"I know. Everyone sees you as a hero now, you're amazing." (Y/n) says, a more genuine smile making its way onto her face. She turned to him, watching as he finishes his second bowl. His tan whiskered cheeks were flushed a light pink and he sputtered a little bit as he sat down his ceramic bowl.Naruto almost let out a little whimper, like he was some sort of puppy. Getting compliments from her always did that to Naruto. It left a pleasant feeling that floated throughout his mind and body, a feeling that Naruto saw as some kind of drug. When they were put on the same team, he felt the same sensation. She meant so much to him because she had been the first one to ever reach out to him with genuine kindness. He wanted to repay her for that kindness, so Naruto promised himself that he would never let her be sad. Lately, though, that had been a challenge. Something happened between her and Sasuke, something neither of them would talk about. Naruto understood how she felt about Sasuke, he really did, but the guy was his best friend. If he had to pick a side, he didn't know what he'd do. (Y/n) meant so much to him, but so did Sasuke. So... what was he supposed to do?
Either way, he just wanted (Y/n) to be happy. She deserved happiness after everything she had been through. Hopefully Obito would-"When do you think they'll let him out?" (Y/n) says quietly, finally finishing her bowl of ramen. Usually she'd have about three bowls, but lately the war her stomach's been weak. Naruto took a second to think. She wasn't talking about Sasuke, she avoided the subject of her old friend like it was the plague. She was obviously talking about her brother, Uchiha Obito. She didn't know him all that well, she just knew that he was the reason Itachi hadn't killed her that night. But that had resulted in streams of trauma and PTSD, so she wasn't sure if she should be thankful or not. He watched over her all her life, Obito revealed before their fight with Madara. He wanted her to be protected. She was so close to dying so many times, Obito was always there to stop it.
Naruto saved his life because of that fact, and (Y/n) was glad. She still had family, after all.
"I think, since Kakashi-sensei is Hokage now, that he won't be in there long." Naruto starts, smiling sadly. He was glad that she was there during the war. (Y/n) got to meet his dad, and Minato seemed to like her a lot. She was the younger sister of one of his students, but Naruto didn't think that was why. (Y/n), despite her many mental issues, had a certain light to her. She tried her hardest to stay positive even though her mind was always fighting against her in that aspect. She was overly helpful too, a skillful medical ninja. In short, Uchiha (Y/n) was amazing and Naruto loved her.
The reader has depression, it's part of being an Uchiha ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
