.Stealing a Kiss.
~Queenie~
A week later, the next Friday, was the first real date of Andie's and I could immediately tell Duckie was pissed. From what he told me when he dragged me to Cats on Friday night, He had had a bout with Andie that had gone down hill and her and him weren't friends anymore. I felt really sorry for him. At least he tried, I told myself. That was all we could hope for. I was right about one thing, Duckie sure did go after Andie more now that she was dating Blane. But ... something about his chasing seemed more relaxed. That didn't stop him from being pissed.
"You wanna know my thing?" Duckie asked, continuing his horrible rambling that I was starting to get annoyed with. I tried to convince myself he was just really drunk. "If I really have a solid for a girl, I'll ride by her house on my bike." He slung his arm over my shoulder and a pitter patter went through my heart. Dammit you're supposed to be over him. "I'll do it a hundred times in a day," he decided.
I nodded, trying to focus on what he was saying and not get annoyed. "Will you ever park?" Why are you asking that?
"I'm kind of a drive by kind of guy."
You don't need to tell me twice. Was it just me, or was the voice in my head really loud all of a sudden?
Duckie seemed to notice something over my shoulder. I knew who it was before I even looked over. It Andie, walking over with Blane. She smiled and waved when she saw us, said something to Blane and headed over.
"Hi!" She exclaimed when she sat down.
Duckie looked away, ignoring her, but I gave her a grin.
"Hi," I responded.
Andie looked over to Duckie. "Duckie?" she called.
When he didn't say anything and continued to ignore her I rolled my eyes.
"He's sulking," I said. "He's not going to ride past your house on his bike anymore, if you were wondering."
Andie glared at him. "You're being a real jerk, Duckie," she told him.
Still, he didn't listen.
Then Andie turned to me. "How'd you get him in here, anyways?"
"I promised that I wouldn't let him drink." And then you broke that promise.
"And how come you're here?"
I shrugged. "I have no idea." It was true. I wasn't a usual comer of Cats. I guess that's why the owner trusted me to watch Duckie.
"Hi," a new voice said, as Blane took his place at our table.
I smiled.
He handed a coke to Andie. "There you go."
"You haven't met Queenie, have you?" Andie asked, indicating toward me.
I waved a nervous hand. I could see why Andie liked the guy. He was attractive, and looked kind. I had run into him in the hall at school once, that was how I knew him. He had respect towards people. Didn't treat them like objects.
"Not properly. Hi again." He stuck his hand out toward me and I shook it, giving him a grin.
"Hi, Blane," I said.
"And that's Duckie Dale over there behind the glasses," Andie added, throwing the jerk another glare.
"Hi, Duckie," Blane said kindly.
