THE BOY WHO BECAME AN ANGEL

He was chosen for the Role when he was ten years old. He had a talent for music, mechanics and was not afraid of the dark. He thrived in it actually, despite the derision he was often receiving by his family. His mother often made him go into the square wearing his pearly white mask and he would paint stars and birds, music notes and red flames as he played with his friends.

And the boy was happy as he made machines, solved puzzles and composed music, so beautiful that even the village's chorus master begged him to perform as a maestro.

When the Storytellers came, and the Role was announced he volunteered, earning the astonishment of his townspeople and the gleeful hidden smiles of the robbed figures. He felt like a hero.

He wanted to become one.

Too bad he was destined to become the villain instead.
