According to terms of marriage, there is monogamy and polygamy. Polygamy means plural marriage. There are three types of polygamy.

📍 Polyandry - where one woman is married to two or more men at the same time
📍 Polygamy - where one man is married to two or more women at the same time
📍 Cenogamy - where to two or more men mate with two or more women in group marriage

According to place of residence, the family may be classified as:

📍 Patrilocal - when the newly married couple lives with the parents of the husband
📍 Matrilocal - when the newly married lives with the parents of the wife
📍 Neolocal - when newly married pair maintains a separate household and live by themselves.

With the reference to authority or who is considered the head, the family may be classified as:

📍 Patriarchal - when the father is considered the head and plays a dominant
📍 Matriarchal - when the mother or female is the head and makes the major decisions
📍 Equalitarian - when the both father and mother share in making decisions and are equal in authority.

SOCIAL DIMENSIONS OF EDUCATION (PROF ED)

➡Family- is the smallest social institution which the unique function od producing and rearing the young.
➡Conjugal family- consist of husband, wife and children.
➡Consanguine family- consist of married couple, their parents, siblings, etc.
➡Polyandry- one woman is married to two or more men at the same time.
➡Polygamy- one man is married to two or more women at the same time.

➡Cenogamy- two or more men mate with two or more women in group marriage.
➡Patrilineal- when the descent is recognized through the father's line.
➡Matrilineal- when descent is recognized through the mother's line.
➡Bilineal- when the descent is recognized through both the father's and mother's line.
➡️Patrilocal- newly married couple lives with parents of the husband

➡️Matrilocal- newly married couple lives with parents of the wife.
➡️Neolocal- newly married couple lives by themselves.
