The soft hand gently placed against your back as you tried to sleep used to startle you, but you've grown used to your boyfriend's lurking around. "Hello Giovanni," you mumbled tiredly, twisting around to face him. You smile at him, and he returns it.

"Y/N, I got you something," he whispers quickly. He reaches into his pocket and pulls out the most beautiful necklace you've ever seen.

As he hands it to you, you still up and breath, "It's beautiful!" You turn it over in your hands. The chains appears to be gold, though your not sure if it really is, but that doesn't matter to you. What matters is that there's nothing more pretty in the universe, and the person that matters most to you just gave it to you to keep. Hanging off the chain was a good-sized gem with a cerulean blue hue.

"How did you get this?" You asked, curious amazement evident in your voice.

"I have my ways," he answers with a coy grin. Always so mischievous, and almost more so mysterious. So you don't know and might never know where it's from.

You have a guess though. "You get it because of your job?"

"Yeah," he admitted, but explained no further. He was still smiling, but he seemed close to a grimace, and the look in his eyes was distant. He always got this way when you two talked about his job, which he wouldn't tell you about for some reason. You don't understand why, but it must be a good paying job, for him to afford this necklace. You won't try to pry it out of him, though. It's none of your business, and you know it, so you let him keep it secret.

He still has this distant look in his eyes, though, and you don't want him to worry about it. You wrap your arms around him. That seems to pull him from his thoughts as he flushes and laughs quietly. "I love it," you whisper to him, "And I love you, too." You give him a peck on the lips, and he really turns pink. You laugh at his flustered expression, blushing a bit yourself.

You begin to drift off in his arms, when your cuddling is interrupted by the buzzing of his phone. He sighs as he pulls away from you to check it, and you rub your tired eyes, and look at him, knowing he'll know from your stare that you want to know what the text says if he's willing to share.

"Mm," he grunts as he tucks his phone back into his pocket, "Y/N, I'm sorry. I just got a text from one of my coworkers. They need me right now."

You nod in understanding, "Called in, huh? Tell them you can't come in or something," you whine, wrapping your arms around him in defiance, "I wanna cuddle!"

He shakes his head, "I have to."

"It's just some dumb store or something," You complain through a yawn.

"No-" he starts, then cuts off suddenly, "I mean, yes, but- One day you'll understand."

"I suppose I will," you relent, letting him free from your arms. He watched you settle back down into your bed, and tucked you in. He even gave you a small kiss on the forehead.

"Sweet dreams, Y/N," he mutters gently.

You fight away the sleepiness until Giovanni disappears from sight. After he leaves, the warm feeling he gives you lingers, and staying awake becomes impossible.

When you wake up, you can recall him being in your dreams. With a wide smile you take the necklace off the bedside table, and clasp it around your neck. Even with your messy bed head, you feel completely beautiful wearing it. You walk into the hall in a better mood than you usually are first thing in the morning. Wandering into the kitchen, and see that it's nine in the morning, which means your parents already left for work. It's Wednesday, and you're a college student on summer break, and you're alone, which means, of course, that you want to get out of the house. Deciding that you'd rather eat breakfast at you favorite cafe instead of cereal for the millionth time, you go into the bathroom and brush out your hair. When you finish, your hair doesn't exactly look fabulous, but you shrug to the mirror and put on a headband.
