Chapter 2: Finding the Infected Part 1

[SONYA'S POV]

I was in my backyard, reading my favorite book. I noticed a green gas out of the corner of my eye, approaching me rapidly. I stood up, dropped my book and ran opposite the gas. The backyard fence cornered me with the gas approaching, closer and closer. The green gas passed me, as I began feeling dizzy, and everything went dark.

I opened my eyes to a freezing cold. I shivered, and gasped in shock at the sight before me. Ice spikes surrounded me, covering the grass. Snow was falling around me. I glanced at my hands. My hands were a shade of icy blue. I screamed in panic, and ran to my room. I wiped away the falling tears, before grabbing a pair of gloves, a jacket, and my jeans. I wore them in a second and rushed out the door, with only one thought on my mind;

'What was that?!'

[HARTNELL'S POV]

I traveled to a certain city in London, which was the place where I tracked down one of those people. Arriving at a park, a hooded girl with blonde hair and blue eyes was leaning on a tree. She wore gloves, and when she took them off, she had blue hands. I approached, wary of anything dangerous around.

"Guten tag, mate!" I said. "I am Dr. Hartnell Roberts of Bath, England, and you ma'am, caught my green toxic gas, I believe?"

[SONYA'S POV]

I was leaning on a tree, staring off into space when a voice startled me.

"Guten tag, mate!" He said. "I am Dr. Hartnell Roberts of Bath, England, and you ma'am, caught my green toxic gas, I believe?"

I gave him a look that simply said, 'are you out of your mind?'. "I'm Søńyà Wińterś... and uhm... green toxic gas?" I introduced myself and gave a small yet royal bow. "This 'green toxic gas' you speak of isn't deadly, is it?" I sighed and put my gloves back on.

[HARTNELL'S POV]

"You are infected with elemental toxic.." I said. "It's not deadly, but those who are infected are given abilities depending on their birth month."

I then created a floating crystal in my hand to prove my point.

"According to my prediction, the toxic has now spread over 5-11 countries, a few hundred infected, I believe.." I explained.

I told her that I could simply make an antidote to cure everyone, but then my lab blew up after I left. Then, I told her that I'm looking for the people who are affected in five different countries, more, even.

"I'm planning on a secret society of people who have these abilities," I took a deep breath, and clasped my hands together. "and I've tracked down a wind toxic in New York. Coming, or not?"

[SONYA'S POV]

"Coming.." I said, a weak smile on my face. "I think my friends might be infected too.." I followed him and took off my gloves. The last time I saw Dyorene, Sydney, Katherine and Perth were back when we went to the mall... I wonder how they are now, if they are infected, or rather, if they were able to escape. The thought of them alone out there made me worry. Glancing at my hands, I let out a sigh of relief. My hands were back to their usual color, although they were paler than usual. I lifted my palm and formed a snowflake.

"Wow.." I smiled, and created a snowman with a simple wave of my arms.
