waking up right at dawn, poppy shot out of her bed as if she had just had 4 cups of coffee.
today was a big day. her first official day as queen.
a party was planned for tonight at 7. she had a perfect dress, purple with sparkles and a length that just didn't make it past her knees.
everyone there was going to be dressed up. suits, dresses, you name it. this was a big day for poppy. all eyes would be on her.
her heart jumped. normally, poppy would have no problem speaking in front of troll village. all of the people gave her a thrill. but this time was different.
there was a lot of pressure as queen. so many daily duties, so much paperwork, and maybe in a couple years she might even be married to a king.
the thought of that sent a shiver down her spine. marriage was not exactly an option right now. poppy's dad had always loved the idea of walking his daughter down the isle, but getting married gave poppy a lot of stress.
what if my future king isn't a good leader? how am i supposed to take care of kids? how will i be able to manage so much in so little time?
"woah," poppy said to herself. "you're getting way into your head. stopping thinking about the future and just live in the moment."
interrupting her was a knock at her front door. she ran towards it, but no one was there.
weird, she thought. as she was closing the door, she noticed a letter on her doormat.
meet me in the forest at 10 after the party.
the note didn't say who it was from, where in the forest to meet, anything.
"hmm," poppy said, closing the door after taking one last glance outside to see if anyone looked suspicious.
