that's cool.

Adam's P.O.V

I bit into my toast as I scrolled through Twitter. I heard the T.V blaring in the background, and Max chuckling at it every now and again.

Small footsteps began getting louder. I looked up and smiled at Shelby. She looked incredibly tired and quite nervous. "Guys... I need to... t-to tell you something..." she muttered.

She walked over to Max, muting the T.V. I went over to the pair, seeing the frustration flaring in Max's eyes, but curiosity still was present on his face. Shelby pointed to the couch, and I sat down.

Shelby sighed. "As you know, my parents are... dead," she began.

Max and I looked up at her with sympathy. "Yeah..." I breathed.

"And I do know who was responsible for it." Shelby glared at the wall behind her. "And the killer is right next door."

My eyes widened. "You sure you're okay with living here?" I asked.

"Yeah, it's fine... it's not like she can harm me, or make things worse. Look, there's... something I've kept secret from you, for... years. Something that I was born with, and for a long time, ashamed about. Everyone in my old village knew about it, bullied me for it. So when I moved and met you guys, I didn't tell you about it, in case you'd hate me for it... but now, living here, it feels more normal."

Shelby took a deep, shaky breath. And suddenly, she was part wolf.

"I'm a hybrid of a few creatures," she mumbled. "I'm part wolf, part fox, part lion and part vampire. But I can only show my wolf side."

Max and I stared at her in astonishment. Tears gleamed in Shelby's eyes. "If you want me to leave, I understand..." she whimpered.

"What?!" Max exclaimed. "No, don't you dare think we'd want you out! We know you, we know how kind you are, you're a great friend. We wouldn't kick you out over this."

I nodded in agreement. "I highly doubt you could do anything to make us want to kick you out," I said. "We only have each other in this new place. It wouldn't be fair if we just... cast you out. But like, this is really cool!"

"I have certain behaviours that may be annoying..." Shelby warned. "And my temper can get worse that Max's."

"No, never." I smirked at Max. "Worse that that of Mad Max?"

Max's face had gone red. "I will PUNCH YOU, ADAM!"

Shelby giggled. "Thanks guys. Your support means more than you know. Tell me if anyone hurts you. I'll mess them up real hard."

"Woah, that's not like you. I like this."

We all had a bit of a laugh.

Ross came downstairs, rubbing his tired eyes. He spotted Shelby wagging her tail as she playfully mocked Max.

"Shelby!" Ross hissed, stomping over to her. "You told them?!"

"Yes, and they support me still," Shelby replied, her tail starting to slow down. "I told them about Katelyn... not in detail, I could... I could never..." She started to cry.

We all glanced at each other, unsure of what to do.

"It's okay, Shumpie," I said after a moment. "They live on in your heart, don't they?"

"I-I... I guess..." she whispered.

"We're here for you, no matter what."

Shelby suddenly grabbed me, crying into my shoulder. I rubbed her back, not retaliating at all. Ross looked guilty. "Sorry..." he mumbled.

No-one replied.

Time passed, and midday rolled around. None of us had left the house, we kinda just ate and watched movies all morning. Shelby cried every now and again, but she knew she had our unconditional friendship. She'd just managed to calm down once again when a harsh knock sounded at the door. It sent her back into tears. Ross slowly stood and went over to the door. He opened it. Aphmau stood there very angrily. "Where is she?!" she demanded.

"I'm gonna have to ask you to leave..." Ross said.

"No! She hurt my frien-"

"She's not in the right headspace for one of your lectures, Jess!"

Wait, it was Jess? Or did Ross just misspeak? "You... really are Jess?" I asked.

She marched in, coming in front of the paused T.V. "Yes, I am, Adam. And last night, Shelby hurt my friend, badly."

I glanced down at Shelby, who was curled up in a teary ball between Max and I. "You'd do that if you saw the one who killed your parents, wouldn't you?" I growled.

"Well... she messed up Katelyn's face, she's in pain, I have every right to call the police on Shelby. And Ross for not controlling his crazy dog."

I noticed Shelby's breathing getting heavier, her shoulders shaking more and more. I soon realised she was laughing. She looked up at Jess with a huge grin and a scary look in her now-red eyes. "I'd like to see you try!" she exclaimed.

Jess stared at her for a while. "Shelby..." Max said, placing a hand on Shelby's shoulder, "cool it. You're freaking us out."

"You can't get rid of me, you can't get rid of me, you can't get rid of me... YOU CAN'T GET RID OF ME, JESS!" Shelby laughed.

"Please just stop..."

"You can't get rid of me! I'll be sure Katelyn pays."

"Yeah... I'm gonna go..." Jess said slowly. "She's gonna kill you guys, she's fricking insane!"

"Don't be rude," I said. "She's still Shelby. She wouldn't kill us. But she might hurt you. So please just keep away..."

"Okay, sure." Jess left the house.

Shelby's eyes returned to their normal hazel, and she immediately burst into tears. She was hurt. And I'll always be here for my friend.

Even if she does kill me.
