They played all week In small clubs and tonight they were playing in New Orleans. Their bus pulled up to the venue and they were all still sleeping from the late night before. The bus backed up which made a loud beeping noise. Val opened her eyes and sighed.
"Those damn beeps can go to hell." she said to herself. She moved the curtain slightly and looked out the window with squinted eyes. Another parking lot with not much around to see. She rubbed her eyes and got up to use the bathroom. Being the only girl on the bus, she got the only room on the bus which had its own bathroom and the biggest bed. The guys had to sleep in the smaller bunks. She opened her door and walked to the front of the bus. She passed the guys still sleeping in their bunks. She smiled to herself. They looked like little angels sleeping so peacefully.
"How was the drive?" She asked their driver, Steve.
"Fine, fine. I'm gonna go get some sleep." he walked back to an empty bunk. She sat on the couch and smoked a cigarette then decided to go look for something to eat. She climbed off the bus and walked down the street. There wasn't much around. Some hotels, the club they were playing that night, a small bar, a bigger theater, and a cafe. She went into the cafe and ordered some breakfast and coffee. She sat in the booth and ate in silence. She looked over at a young couple sat in a booth across from her. They looked so happy together. She sometimes felt she was missing out by not having a relationship and often felt lonely. She sighed and told herself that she didn't need a relationship and casual sex with random guys was a lot more fun. She finished eating and took one last sip of coffee. She paid the check then walked out the door. As she walked out the door a group of men were walking towards it. A couple of them smiled and said hi, but as the last man walked passed her, his eyes locked onto hers. He winked at her as he passed. He was slightly taller than her and had beautiful blue eyes. She turned her head as he passed, her eyes following him until he was inside the cafe and she could no longer see him. Something about him had made her heart beat faster. She shrugged it off and walked back to the bus. She climbed onto the bus and found the guys finally awake.
"About time you lazy bastards got up!" She smiled.
"Where have you been?" Asked John.
"There's a cafe a couple blocks down."
"Any good?"
"Yeah it was very good."
The guys all left to go eat at the cafe. Val took a nice long hot shower. She stepped out of the bathroom and wrapped her towel around her body then sat on her bed and combed her hair. The man that had winked at her popped into her head. She couldn't stop thinking about him for some reason. She pushed the thoughts aside and got dressed then dried her hair. By the time she was finished and came out of her room, the guys had returned. She sat with them on the couch at the front of the bus.
"How was it?"
"Really good." Todd said.
"Guess who we saw?" John asked.
"Who?"
"Noel freaking Gallagher! He's playing a show tonight."
"Who?" She looked at him confused.
"He was in oasis?" John looked at her.
"He always fought with his brother?"
Todd offered.
She stared at them blankly.
"Come on, he's like this arrogant asshole, but writes great songs?"
"Sorry never heard of him."
"Well we saw him, and he said we should come check out the show after we play."
"I think I'll have to pass."
