"I don't deserve a friend like you"
"Of course ya do." He smiled.
They watched movies the rest of the day and talked. Val loved having someone to talk to. After the last movie ended it was almost midnight. Val yawned.
"So am I sleeping on the couch?" Noel looked at her.
"No, its too uncomfortable. You can sleep with me."
"I don't know if that's a good idea."
"We'll just be sleeping, that's it."
"Ok" he reluctantly agreed.
They went to her room and she changed into her pajamas while Noel went to the bathroom and brushed his teeth. He walked back into the room and she went to the bathroom to brush her teeth. When she came back into her room Noel was sitting on her bed in his boxers and a white T-shirt.
"Which side is mine?"
"Left side."
He got up and climbed under the covers. Val climbed in next to him and turned off the light. She laid there and felt so happy he had came to see her.
"Thanks for coming."
He didn't say anything but he turned and draped his arm around her waist. She smiled in the dark. He made her feel safe. She fell asleep a few minutes later and woke up to the sunshine on her face. Noel's arm was still around her. She wished they could stay like this forever. She closed her eyes and laid there. A few minutes later Noel stirred. Val opened her eyes and looked at him. He was looking at her.
"Sleep good?"
"I slept great" she smiled.
"Good" he turned onto his back and rubbed his eyes.
"Are you hungry?" She sat up and stretched.
"Yeah."
She made them some breakfast and they ate at the kitchen table.
"What are we doing today?" She looked at Noel.
"Dunno. Let's go somewhere."
"Where?"
"Dunno." he shrugged.
"We can go to the park?"
"The park?"
She shrugged her shoulders.
"Ok, let's go to the park."
They went to the park and walked in the woods on the trail.
"It's beautiful here." he said as he looked around.
"Yeah, I use to come here all the time."
"You ever finish that song?"
"No, not yet. Have you written any new songs?"
"A couple."
She smiled at him.
"Only a couple?"
He laughed.
They came to a bench on the trail and sat down.
"So you're not playing music anymore?"
"Not for now. Maybe one day I will again. What about you? "
"I'm not doing anything til next year probably."
They sat in silence for a minute then she stood up.
"You ready?"
"Yeah." He stood up.
