Casualty Ruby and Archie

There's always drama

Archie woke feeling a strange mixture of feelings, she felt excited yet worried and her emotions were all over the place all because of that stupid bloody, beautiful blonde paramedic who'd crashed into her heart quite without warning. Archie hated people with crushes they always moaned about how the other person would never like them back, and here she was doing the exact same thing. All people in love were the same Archie decided yearning and forlorn until their heart got what it wanted, like lost puppies without an owner. 

Archie hated her heart she hated how it raced when it saw the quiet awkward paramedic, she hate how it skipped a beat when it skipped a beat when Red walked into a room, even if Archie didn't know she was there and she hated how it was the only thing that could get her what she most wanted in the world; Ruby.

If it didn't keep her alive she would've gladly ripped it out and stomped on it with her Doc Martins. And even at that Archie couldn't believe that would stop her yearning for this girl her very soul longed for Ruby, the word hit her like a ten tonne truck "soulmates" she whispered. she didn't even know if Ruby liked her back but yet the word fit perfectly with how the crew cut doctor felt. She groaned inwardly and jumped out of bed getting ready for another day.

 once again the universe seemed to hate her because she kept bumping into Ruby, Will and Lev kept exchanging knowing looks but Archie was two pre- occupied to care, suddenly there was a fire alarm, something that never happened in the ED  as it was only for emergencies, Archie saw Charlie herd people out but she had finish up with a critically ill patient.

the outside of the ED was buzzing with people, but as Ruby whipped her head around, she couldn't see her crush anywhere she pushed her way to Will "WILL?!? have you seen Archie, where is she?" "she's still in resus she was saving a patient she couldn't leave" ruby began to head into the ED Will stopped her. "No ruby you can't the wiring is faulty and the ED is filling with water a stray wire and you'd be dead".                                                                                                                         "Will please, I love her" Ruby cried desperately her heart beating erratically in her chest. "will looked torn but nodded and turned his back for a moment enough for the young paramedic to slip in unnoticed.                                                                                                                                                                      Will had been right sparks of electricity sprayed everywhere and Ruby's shoes were already waterlogged but she pushed through summoning strength she didn't realise she had.

her heart stopped as she saw Archie's leg trapped under a beam "Archie" she cried broken hearted. "Red???" Archie said raising her head waking up from being knocked unconscious by the beam. "Archie" she smiled and ran to the young doctor and together they lifted the heavy beam off Archie's leg. "Red you came back" Archie grinned as Ruby helped her hobble into resus after determining going back out to the outside would be too dangerous and near impossible with Archie's leg. "Of course I came back, You can't get rid of me that easily" the blonde laughed.

"well thanks, hey help me raise Mr. Garrett's bed will you." they do so and Ruby helps Archie onto the counter out of the way of the water. The water begins to rise rapidly and then abruptly a wire falls into it, the murky water crackles ominously and both women fear they will die. Ruby takes this opportunity and throws cation to the wind.                                                                                               "Given that we could be electrocuted any minute now, I want to tell you ... I want you to know that I really like you" she said slightly breathless. Archie looked at her jaw on the floor. worried by the lack of response in 0.05 seconds she began blabbering "and it doesn't mean you have to like me back I just thought you should kno..." her ridiculous ramble was cut off by Archie abruptly kissing her, Ruby let out a small squeak of surprise but deepened the kiss. they pulled apart slightly flushed and realised the water had stopped. It was soon safe to wade out into the carpark glowing happily discreetly never letting go of the others hand.
