"Wake up, dickface."

Tyler is back.

I notice two things when I open my eyes, the sun is setting, and I'm alone on the couch.

I don't even remember falling asleep, but it's obvious I've been out for a while, if the rumbling of my stomach is anything to go by.

When Tyler hears it he looks at me with a knowing smile.

"Someone's been productive..."

He's laughing and I can't help but join him, because really, I didn't get shit done.

Still, I throw the first cushion I can reach at him.

"Fuck off, Ty. Blame your sister, not me. I was working on stuff and then she came downstairs and well...here we are."

I must have said something because he stops laughing abruptly. He doesn't look angry. Just concerned.

"Ivy ? She was here ? With you ?"

"I mean...yeah ? Like, we were in the kitchen and I think she was upset ? I figured I'd give her some space but then she suggested we watch T.V. and I guess I fell asleep," I shrug.

Tyler blinks, "you watched T.V. with my sister..."

It's not really a question, he just sounds like he's trying to process the information, but I'm not sure why it's so surprising to him, and frankly I'm too hungry to find out. I roll my eyes as I get up then push him on the couch.

He lands with a soft thud and that earns me a middle finger.

"I did. That was better than walking around the house with nothing to do all day !"

That brings Tyler out of his trance and he snorts.

"Sorry, I know it's my job to keep you entertained and shit, but they need me at the club, turns out the more people come in at night the more trash you have to pick up the next day, crazy right?"

"Innit ?!" I fake my surprise as I walk to the kitchen.

"I really am sorry, Al. I just wanted to make sure I could be completely available for you. In fact I was gonna offer you to meet my friends tonight, we can go to the club and you can get to know them while I serve drinks to teenagers !" Tyler yells from the living room.

I answer with a quiet 'sure.' I'm too distracted by the newspaper in the trashcan.

"Hey, Ty ? Did you throw away the paper when you got back from work ?"

"Nah man, maybe it just fell ?"

I laugh, "yeah, sure."

Tyler is too distracted by his phone to catch the sarcasm.

Ivy.

I have yet to experience night life in L.A.

But after many hours of people watching in this city, I came to the conclusion that they love dressing like they could be asked to walk the red carpet at all times.

So I figured I'd try to look nice, especially if I'm going to meet new people who are clearly important to my best friend.
I'm also very aware that said best friend owning the club could come in handy if I'm looking to pull.

So after putting on the black skinny jeans, matching boots and the red blouse, I try - and fail miserably - to tame my dark curls.

I've never had trouble attracting people, the whole grey eyes and long hair thing helps of course, but this is L.A. and I'm desperate enough to empty half a bottle of perfume before getting my stuff and leaving the room.
