ERA

Five months had passed by.

After that night of my birthday, I finally agreed to the relationship Timothy had been begging me for years. I knew I could learn to love him soon since we were good friends for a long time, plus he was every woman's dream guy – tall, pretty, smart, and peculiarly stable. I would"t be able to find someone like him in the country.

I needed to give myself a chance to move on and forget about the past. Everyone deserves a new life... right?

About my management training? Well, Mr. Gill obliged me to observe everything he'd been doing in his department. And since my tasks were strenuous, Timothy had me enrolled in the course of Hotel Management online.

"Whoa! Take it easy, beautiful." Timothy took a seat in front of me, removing everything on the dining table. He replaced the area with seared steaks and tuna salads. He put forks and knives on either side of our plates.

"Aww, so sweet," I giggled. Just by staring at those lavish dishes I had my saliva pooling in my mouth already. "But I still need to read about those. Mr. Gill's gonna kill me if I show up tomorrow unprepared," I said.

"Sure," Timothy smiled. He poured wine on my glass and went to fill himself too. "But eat first. Future managers don't starve themselves to death, alright?"

Future manager? Sounds uplifting.

I smiled at that idea but eventually heard myself sigh. "I'm a maid who cleans rooms at the moment. I can't see that path just yet." My statement caused a sting to my heart as I questioned my own strength.

Am I really gonna be a manager? But I'm not that good enough. Would they hire someone like me?

Timothy put his fork on the plate and reached for my hand. "Era, remember that everyone starts from scratch. We may have a dark past but that's not an excuse for not achieving something."
