Is She Taken?

"Jane? Jane?!" Alitheia called out. After the whole Enchanted Lake ordeal with Audrey, Ali and Jane had decided to split up in an attempt to find out if anyone else had managed to escape Audrey's sleeping curse. They had agreed to meet back at the Enchanted Lake after 3 hours. Ali hadn't found anyone not affected by the curse and had returned to the lake after 3 hours. However, she waited at the lake for about 20 minutes, and Jane still hadn't returned. So, fearing that Audrey had found Jane and possibly harmed her, Ali set out to find her.

**This is MY explanation for why Jane showed up with Enchanted Lake water to use on Ben.**

Here's what happened:

Jane had been searching for non-cursed people and had gone to see if Ben had been affected yet. When Jane got to the hallway that led to Ben's office, she saw the claw marks on the walls and immediately knew something had happened. Jane ran back to the Enchanted Lake as fast as she could and grabbed Chad Charming's water gun that he had left there when he joined Audrey. She filled it with Enchanted Lake water and set out to find Ben as quickly as possible. She knew Ali would get worried if she wasn't back in time, but she also knew that Ali was more than capable of taking care of herself and wouldn't hesitate to come looking for her.

Jane was right, of course; Ali was perfectly capable of taking care of herself. Sure, she didn't do that when she was with Raul but, mentally/emotionally speaking, it's harder to defend yourself against someone that you care about. However, Ali had hardened her heart over these past two days. So much so, that she seemed emotionally distant even to her closest friends and Ben.

**Back to where we were:**

"Jane! Are you out here?!" Ali called out once more.

"Over here!" Jane yelled back, hearing the franticness in her friend's voice.

Ali ran in the direction of Jane's voice. At times like this, Ali was thankful for her preference for combat boots over high heels.

"I've been looking everywhere for you, Jane! You didn't meet me back at the Enchanted Lake as we planned, so I got worried that something might've happened to you," Ali said as she pulled Jane into a quick hug.

"I knew you would come looking for me," Jane replied. Jane suddenly noticed that Ali was wearing a charm necklace that she'd never seen her wear before. It was one that Ali's dad, Apollo, had given her for her birthday last year. The necklace held two charms: an archer's bow and a quiver of arrows. "That necklace is beautiful! Why have I never seen you wear it before?" Jane asked as she admired the necklace.

"Hm? Oh, this? Dad gave it to me for my birthday last year, and I guess I just didn't have a reason to wear it until now," Ali said

"Hm? Oh, this? Dad gave it to me for my birthday last year, and I guess I just didn't have a reason to wear it until now," Ali said.

"A reason to wear it? Why would you need a reason to wear a necklace?" Gil suddenly piped in out of nowhere.

Ali giggled. "This isn't an ordinary necklace. It was handmade by my uncle Hephaestus, the Greek God of fire, forges, and blacksmiths."

This just confused Gil and Jane even more than before, and Ali could see their confusion written on their faces. "In other words, these charms are more than just charms. They are actually weapons that are specially made so that they can be carried around without taking up any room or slowing me down," Ali said, trying to explain to them without having to show them.

"Oh, okay. I think I understand what you're saying now. That's really cool. I didn't know stuff like that existed even with magic. Actually, I didn't even know you liked weapons to be honest," Jane said in awe. Gil, however, was still confused but apparently decided to let it go because he just shrugged and walked over to were Jay and Ben were.

"Although I don't really show it, I'm actually quite good with weapons. Most demigods are naturally good fighters. It's in our blood," Ali explained. That made sense to Jane, well....enough sense at least.

There was one person who seemed particularly interested in Ali, but he couldn't seem to find his words and stayed silent. That person was Harry Hook. He'd never seen anyone quite like Ali and was completely mesmerized by her, although he wasn't sure why.

The group decided to start heading to Evie's place to meet up with the others. While they were walking, Harry casually made his way next to Jay and whispered a question.

"Hey, Jay. That girl there. Is she...Is she taken?" Harry asked, hoping Ali couldn't hear him.

"Ali? Uh, actually no. She's not with anyone right now. But I'd be careful if I were you, she's Ben's sister," Jay warned.

"Sister? I didn't know that King Ben had a sister," Harry asked, confused by this new information.

"Well, adopted sister actually. It's a long story. But just be careful. Oh, and one more thing. If you manage to get her to like you, you better make sure you don't do anything to hurt her Hook. I will personally beat the shit out of you. I don't even know why I'm approving the idea of you dating her, right now!" Jay growled at the end as he realized that he had just given Harry permission to flirt with, and possibly date, Ali.

Harry jumped away before Jay could have the chance to change his mind. He casually went to walk next to Ali, who was walking a slight distance away from the rest of the group. Ali had already noticed him before and she thought Harry was hot, of course, but she had no intention of talking to him. He seemed like a bit of a flirt and she wasn't planning on even considering another relationship after the last two years of hell.

"Hello, lass. What are you doin' over here walkin' by yerself? Yer not gonna join the group?" Harry asked trying to get her to at least talk to him.

"No, I'm fine over here by myself. I'm only here because the others tend to worry about me if they don't know where I am," Ali explained without glancing at Harry even the slightest bit.

"Well, what do ye say we get away from the group and find somethin' more fun to do? Just the two of us?" Harry asked playfully, reaching up to touch her hair.

Ali grabbed Harry's wrist instinctively before he touched her hair and she turned and glared at him. "Don't....Touch....Me..," she growled at him. But behind her glare, Harry swore he could see a hint of fear in her eyes, and that made him wonder what happened to her that had caused that fear. Was she afraid of being touched? Oh...Shit....Is this what Jay meant by "be careful?" Was he supposed to be careful as to not scare her away? Harry decided that he would have to try a new approach with Ali. An approach that he'd never used before; a gentler approach.
