Rose's POV:

Red warning lights flash in unison with Bebop's mechanical countdown. Almost immediately, my ears pick up on another fainter sound. For a moment, pondering that I must have been hearing things, the strange noise came once more.

Step....step....step....step.

Tilting my head to the ceiling, the noise emitting from above us. I am not the only one to have notice for Rabbit, still within her embrace looks up too. She quivers. "A-a-are those f-f-f-f-foots-steps?"

One by one, booted feet step on to the floor, the noise of crunching glass in their wake. My photoreceptors widening as I quickly recognize the figure slowly arising to full height. Bepop speaks for the last time. "One..." The mechanical whirl of the Manor's electronics shutting down echoes through the entire building. The red emergency light once again bathes the figure in an ominous crimson, displaying no other but The Spine. Hisses of wrathful steam escaping his neck and cheeks.
