Third POV:
Peter's head snaps up as soon as he hears Bepop's shut down initiation. Peter plants an open palm across his forehead before running it through his mess of brown wavy hair. Chelsea and Camille share equally worried expressions all the while Steve exasperates. "First The Spine takes off, now the power too? What next."
Little to Steve's knowledge, Peter is already formulating his hypothesis and it is appearing worse by the second. Hatchworth and The Jon stand close to Mike while the girls are occupied with the window. Peter is about to call the girls away when he notices what is grasping their attention. First, he hears the odd footfalls on the rooftop, then like the girls he too is now focused on the window. The blood vacates from Peter's face as he rapidly recognizes the shape emerging from the outside the window. No, it can't be.
Rose's POV:
My mouth falls open, for the briefest moment I feel relief. We had found The Spine but the closer he came to me, a nagging feeling that something is not quite right began to gnaw at me.
My fleeting smile quickly fades into a mew of confusion as my photoreceptors raise to his face. He isn't dawning his fedora, and his waste coat was torn at the seams. The Spine's eyes shimmer a bright green that completely outlines his entire eyes, they no longer reflect their usually relaxed pupil. More frighteningly is the expression that held upon his face, anger.
Pure anger radiates from him like a venomous aura, my eyes travel further down his figure. Has he gotten taller? He seems too far large for his room, I myself feel puny in his wake. His strides are slow and methodical as if he were taking his time sizing us up. What really is alarming me are the massive rods protruding from his forearms spewing sparks of green electricity. The hot oil slowly drains from my face.
I could not hear Rabbit's desperate cries to snap me out of my fear-induced paralization. I found myself completely frozen, like a prey animal that has been caught by its predator. This...this is not The Spine I know.
Third POV:
The room is swallowed by an immediate gasp from Rose and a cry from Rabbit. "The Spine?"
Hatchworth and The Jon's initial reactions were with joyous reunion before theirs dropped, the two bots shying back to the door. Peter freezes instantly the revelation of The Spine's warfare form, without a second thought Peter recognizes what has become of his friend. Mike stood petrified whilst Steve whispered beneath his breath. "That better not be what I think it is."
Peter however fully aware of The Spine's original warfare programming which should have been deactivated, is not what concerned him the most. It is who The Spine's predatorial focus is landing on. Rose.
Rose's POV:
The softest whimper escapes through my lips. "The...Spine?"
In those fleeting seconds, I watch in horror as The Spine is suddenly animated in his movements. In just a few fast strides, he is already in front of me with the metal rods raised.
Third POV:
Everyone in the room is sent into a wild frenzy of panic. The Spine jumps into movement as he makes a crazed dash for Rose. Thankfully Rabbit pulls Rose out of the way and drags her while she breaks for the door. Peter orders Chelsea and Camille to reach the bomb cellar which has not been used for the last decade. The Walter Workers nod in affirmation while assisting Hatchworth and The Jon out from the room, closely followed by Matt and Steve. Leaving Peter, Rabbit, and Rose to be the last to flee from the room.
