The sound of a guitar string snapping interrupts the smooth melody of their evening rehearsal. Hatchworth's acoustic guitar had lost a string amidst strumming. However, nobody could have expected the following events that immediately occurred."Hatchworth!" The Spine snapped, startling the bronze bot more so than his ill-gotten strings. This is quite out of character for The Spine, never had he been known to raise his voice out of hostility. Thus sending the room into an abrupt silence, the various tunes of instruments cease to play. Peter pauses at mid-sip of his teacup, suddenly growing more attentive to the group of automatons. He peers up from the tattered journal that had been recovered from Rose's cottage, eyeing the silver man carefully.
Rose's POV:
The Spine's outburst causes my graphite to break over my sketch pad, immediately raising my head to see what exactly is happening. One moment a wonderful melody was in tow, now an overbearing silence. Setting the sketch pad down, I stand up from my seated position by the sun windows and amble towards The Spine. His back is turned to me as he scolds Hatchworth, his dorsal fins erecting as he grew increasingly more infuriated. Not to mention the subtle green glow they are emitting...how odd. Perhaps he hadn't fully recharged the night before or simply did not have enough electricity for breakfast. Either way, The Spine surely isn't being himself.
Standing off to the side of him, I lift my hand to gently rest on his left shoulder. I open my mouth muttering. My use of words have greatly improved over the year I have spent at the Walter Manor, thanks to a good deal of practice. "What's the matter, The Spine?"
Barely finishing my inquiry before he spun on his heels to face me. He had done so fast that I temporarily lost my footing. Roughly he grabs my wrist and flings it away, sending me falling to the hard tiled floor. My back hit the floor with a loud thud, a wince of distress escaping my mouth. Shocked and startled, I stare up at The Spine in disbelief. What is happening?
Worry-filled wisps of steam escape my cheeks. The Spine glares down at me, an expression I have never seen on him forms. His features took on an edge as his florescent green pupils narrowed coldly. Disdain. Then turns abruptly, storming out of the lounge. He paused in the doorway, muttering to me in a low voice. "Leave me be."
Third POV:
The lounge is left in petrified stillness, no one dared to move until The Spine had completely vacated the room. Peter with the journal still in hand stood up and watches as The Spine's figure disappeared into the dark hallway. Rabbit is the first to spring to Rose's side, helping her stand up while she bathes Rose with inquiries regarding her well being. Rose, however, could not find the words to answer. Peter had not seen Rose so frightened since the incident regarding 'Christine' a year ago. What concerned Peter the most was The Spine's unexpected outburst, completely unakin to The Spine's normally docile disposition. As for Rose, never had he seen The Spine raise a single hand to her...this...this is troubling, to say the least.
