Third POV:
Through the deep snow, The Spine moves nimbly and swiftly. His long legs barely touch the earth at the velocity he treads upon. To the neighboring stranger, he is nothing more than a blur and a cloud of disturbed snow. However, over-exertion and guilt-stricken thoughts threaten his core to overload. Warnings read critical energy levels have been exceeded, the boiler in his chest toils furiously. Even then, The Spine dismisses all warnings and stays upon his current trajectory.
His legs ache tremendously, wearing down upon his springs every moment a booted foot contacts the ground. Now it is made to his knowledge of the rising temperatures within his chest. Even Rose, though unconscious, could feel the increasing heat.
The silhouette of the Walter Manor vaguely comes into view, piercing the pale horizon. With less than a mile to go, The Spine comes to realize if he pushes himself any further it will likely end catastrophically for not only himself but for Rose too. He is already on the brink of a shutdown and an overload. Yet the lack of a pulse within Rose's heart core offers just enough encouragement to carry the likes of him through, aiming for the Manor. He charges in full force for the courtyard gates.
Meanwhile, Peter stands on the cuspis of the ajar doors. Eyeing the horizon worriedly. There has yet to be any sign of The Spine and Rose. He fears if the two may have gotten stranded out there or even worse...no he cannot afford to lose hope. All that he has now is hope but how long until the last grain of sand fall through? Green eyes adorning great dark circles close as he sighs, only to be gently startled by a bronze jointed hand resting on his shoulder. It is Rabbit, she mutters softly with steam escaping her various gears and trinkets. "A-A-Any s-sign of R-Rose or T-T-The Spine, P-Peter?"
Rabbit's voice is absent of her normally upbeat and manic tone. Peter slowly turns to face her, tilting his chin. The same fatherly gesture he has always granted her, he quickly discovers that even he does not have an assuring answer for Rabbit. None that are at least hopeful, that is. Peter responds delicately, giving his best effort not to further upset her. "Not yet Rabbit."
Rabbit's eyes fall to the floor, despondently. Black tears well up in a blue and a green opticals, her voice shakes over the edge of a sob. "A-Are they g-g-going t-t-t-to ma-a-a-ke it ba-a-ack?"
