6 months later

Starr was off to college, leaving me and Lynda to raise James on our own. We couldn't wait to be officially married, so we just went down to the courthouse and got the documents signed. I got a matching wedding ring. We're officially a family. James has gotten so big, and his eyes are brown and green. Lynda's eyes are green. Mine are brown. James has one brown eye and one green. Definitely a unique combination. He's keeping both of us up at night. Especially Lynda since she decided to breastfeed. Weening is going to be a nightmare. My phone rang, it was Starr.

"What's up college kid?"

"Very funny. How's the baby?"

"Keeping us up all hours of the night. Right now he's taking nap in my arm."

"Daddy's boy. I bet Lynda's jealous."

"You know we're married now."

"So? That doesn't mean I have to call her mom."

"And what about James? What happens when he's talking and questions why you don't?"

"Because she's not my real mom. I know who my real mom is."

I had no words. I gripped the phone. Rage building, I don't want to hurt James.

"Dad? You still there?"

"What's her name?"

"Huh? What's that suppos-"

"What's her name?!" The sudden change in my voice woke James, making him cry.

"Fuck off. If all you're gonna do is scream waking the baby then I won't call again."

Then she hung up. I threw the phone against the wall right as Lynda walked in.

"What the fuck babe? Who was that?"

She took James and started bouncing him. "It was Starr. Apparently she knows."

"What does she know?"

"She knows Autumn! How the fuck does she know Autumn?!"

She backed away, she never really gets to see my angry side. I never wanted her to. "Jesus fucking Christ!" I punched the wall, making James was crying louder.

"Babe settle down! You're scaring James. Who's Autumn?"

"Autumn is Starr's biological mother."

"Oh fuck.. How does Starr know?"

"I didn't get that far... Fuck!" I punched the wall again, making a hole, which I'll fill in later.

"Babe settle down! Maybe Starr wants to reconnect with her."

"If she wanted to reconnect she would've done it years ago. Autumn gave her up and practically threw her on my lap when she was a year old. She doubted me the entire time. She had no faith in me. Why the fuck would she want her now?"

"Because she's older, able to care for herself."

"She's not getting my baby girl! I won't have it!"

"Babe calm down, she'll be fine."

She put her hand on my shoulder, I was filled with rage. I never wanted Starr to find Autumn. I grabbed my jacket swinging it on.

"I'll be back. Don't wait up."

"Babe-"

I slammed the door shut before she could argue. I walk down the sidewalk and see her coming up. How fucking dare she even try to visit. We were at arms length now.
