Penelope's pov- a month later
Oliver and I have been hanging out almost every day. It was nice, I'm not gonna lie. We had sleepovers every few nights and movies nights with his dads.
Ashton was trying to get my attention which brought back memories but I'm too scared to even begin a friendship with him.
I wasn't surprised when I walked to my locker and both were there.
"Good morning" Ashton said smiling. His goons behind him.
"Hi" I smiled, then looked to Oliver, "hi"
"Hello gorgeous"
"You're blocking my locker" I said to ashton, "excuse me"
"My deepest apologies, Pen" he moved over a little and I opened my locker.
"Do you all have to crowd my locker everyday?"
"Yes" oliver said, "I like seeing you bright and early"
I smiled and grabbed my things that I needed, seeing a small note on my English book. I grabbed it before one of the goons could.
"I'll see you all in class" I smiled and walked away. I opened the note and read the cursive ink.
It's all a bet. First one to wins, gets you, while the other can't speak to you anymore. You're just a game, sweetie. Don't think you're all that.
-R.J.I only knew one person with the initials RJ. Rachelle Jones. The meanest yet most beautiful girl in school. Your average bitch.
Cheer captain, preppy, straight A, teacher sucking bitch.
I folded the note, confused. A bet? I'm not a game. Rachelle had no reason to lie other than the fact that Oliver was her crush. And had been since 7th grade. He never gave her the attention she wanted though.
I walked into first period and found her in the back, with her squad.
"Rachelle" I held out the note, "what's this?"
"Did you read it?" She chomped her gum loudly, "self explanatory"
"Not really. What bet? And why should I believe you? You live for drama."
"Because sweetie. I've never had an issue with you, have I?"
"No"
"Exactly. listen all I know is that one of Ashton's friends was there when he and Oliver made the bet. Whichever can steal your heart, the other cannot bother you anymore." she shrugged. "Don't you find it odd that all of the sudden Oliver's interest in you peaked the last few weeks? And how oh so nice Ash has been. You're a game to them, Penelope. I'm just looking out for you."
"Yeah thanks" I walked over to my seat and read the note again.. Oliver doesn't really like me. And my heart hurt just a little at that thought.
****I had spoken to either of them the rest of the day. I didn't want to. Yet they both stood by my locker.
I didn't speak to either of them as I opened it and put my books back.
"How was your day?" Oliver asked. I ignored him none the less. "What's wrong"
I closed my locker and walked out the door.
"Hey!" he chased after me and grabbed my arm, "talk to me.""No Oliver!" I yanked my arm back.
"Why are you mad at me? What did I do?"
"I'm not a game! I'm not someone you bet over with my ex boyfriend. I'm not a winner takes all!" I yelled, drawing attention from others leaving the school.
