Ah, ceasefire days. You personally loved them. People like Soldier don't.. but most of you do. You loved relaxing on days like these.. whether it be laying in your bed listening to music, chatting with the other mercs and laughing at jokes, or having a calming walk outside. Whatever you did, you enjoyed it. Even more so if it was with Engineer, the sweet Texan you've come to fall in love with. Of course, you kept your feelings bottled because you didn't know his mindset about you.. but god, sometimes it ached when you longed for his touch. You wanted to know how it felt to have his hands caressing your cheeks.. the warm embrace of a long and endearing hug from him instead of a flimsy side hug.. hell, you were blushing about the thought just a while ago! But one thing stands clear today. Engie invited you and the other mercs to sit around a campfire at night for some drinks, songs, and overall chatting. You were excited for it, because you got to spend more time with everyone! You took a look at the clock.
7:20.
Ten minutes before the gathering began. You decided it would be good to get dressed now, so you hopped out of bed and went into your closet. You wore some simple clothing, a pretty black floral shirt and blue skinny jeans. You fixed up your hair as you desired, and put on the friendship bracelet Engie gave you. A small smile formed on your cheeks as you looked at the bracelet, then turning your sights back to the clock.
7:26.
Four minutes left... well, being early never hurt anyone. You went for your door and opened it, walking out and heading to the entrance. You opened those doors and walked out, looking around. Soon enough, you found a bright orange-yellow flare shining in the dark far away enough to not burn the place down. You speed-walked to the area, meeting up with Engineer alone. You walked up behind him, watching as he re-tuned his guitar. He hadn't noticed you until you spoke up.
"Hey, Engie."
"gAh-- (Y/N)!" he jumped, nearly dropping his guitar. You giggled softly and walked around, taking a seat next to him.
"Ya nearly gave me a heart attack!" Engie said, laughing as he clutches his chest.
"I'm sorry, but the face you had was priceless!" you laughed, causing his face to go red. From embarrassment or love, you didn't know.
"Yer early.. you coulda waited for a bit longer, y'know?" Engie scratched the back of his head.
"I know I came early. It never hurt anyone.. right?"
"Ah suppose so." he smiles. Oh that smile.. so sweet and tender. The way his lips curved up so smoothly.. his cheeks rising slightly with his adorable expression.. his lips look so soft.. how would they feel against yours? You could only imagine--
"Err.. hello? Dell ta (Y/N)?" Engie waved his hand in front of your face slightly. You jumped as you snapped back to reality.
"Uh-- wha? Oh, s-sorry. I was.. staring off into the distance and just kinda.. dozed." you said embarrassedly, scratching your head.
"It's fine.." he mumbles something at the end of it, his face going a bit redder.
"What was that?"
"N-Nuthin'!"
You shrugged it off and sighed, looking up at the sky. "The stars look really nice tonight.."
"Sure do.. Not as nice as you, though.." he smiles at you, and your face flushes pink. You look at him, and he smiles softly. "L-Listen.. ah've been wantin' to tell ya somethin' fer a while now.." he looks at the ground, his favorite cowboy hat covering his goggles. You hummed, ushering him to continue, but the moment is ruined by Demoman's drunken yell.
