At the interruption, you and Tom instantly snapped your attentions towards the intruder—surprise clear on your facial expressions at who it was.
Silence."Well, are any of you going to talk?"
You turn your gaze over to the intruder's piercing gaze; she seemed pissed off but there was a tinge of sadness mixed in her orbs. Either way, a part of you didn't seem fazed. You continued to stare back, not wanting to back down at her actions.
A scoff escaped her lips as she crossed her arms across her chest. "Well, isn't this rich? Now there isn't anything either of you want to say."
"I should go." you muttered, irritation bubbling in your veins as she spoke—the little spark of concern for her disappearing almost instantly as she showed her colors.
"Y/N, n—"
Amelia put a stop to his sentence by gesturing with her hand and a glare towards his direction before returning her gaze back to you, a very obvious fake smile curling upon her lips as she drops her arms down her shoulders, "We'll keep in touch." she claims, sarcasm dripping from her voice.
"Amelia, can you not?" Tom practically begs, his brows furrowing. You watched the interaction that caused a little pinch to your heart. It seemed Amelia had Tom between her fingers. Watching Amelia, she tried her best to not let the scowl grace her features, forcing the mocking smile to return despite her irritation of Tom.
"Stop with the talking, Tom. We're going home, and that's final." she drawled, her eyes back on you as her smirk only grew wider. You almost wanted to slap it off of her face, harder this time. "It was nice meeting you, Y/N..." she drawled, your name seemed to roll off her tongue with a sense of venom, "but we need to head home."
You pulled yourself together with whatever restraint you had left, not even a glare sent back her way and turned your back to the sickening couple, facing the enormous mansion. You heard his call, but you ignored it completely as you let your feet take you back to the party—the muffled music from afar becoming clearer as you neared.
All the while, Tom could only watch you walk away.

You continued walking, your heart growing heavy as you walk away further from the two, feeling your legs grow weak as if it was telling you, you were close to breaking down. The tears now threatening to spill from the corners of your eyes, this was it, wasn't it? It seemed like it. This was obviously Tom's decision. He kept choosing her.
Over and over.
Again.
It didn't matter if Tom still had feelings for her.
Amelia was his life.
As you returned to the party, you tried your best to ignore the stares that turned over to your entry—some probably sympathetic of your situation; They were obviously watching from inside and the gossip soon spread like wildfire throughout the guests. You wanted to glare at them, tell them off for putting their noses in other people's business. Instead, you ignored them and kept your head held up high as you scouted for Luke who you had left your son with.
However, before you could do so successfully—your best friend stood in front of you, halting you in place.
"Talk to me," she demanded, hand on her hip.
