He is... fast!

Old man was now making us follow him back to his house, poor Tanjiro's legs nearly giving up on him from below. Breathing heavily, we stopped as soon as we reached Urokodaki's place. I looked back to Tanjiro, snorting as he was bent down, hands placed on both knees trying to catch some air.

"S-so... did i... pass the test?" He asked, nearly making you laugh.

"The test begins now." Urokodaki cut him off. "Climb the mountain." He continued.

You felt bad for the boy once again, him showing obvious signs that he was really tired and was getting a little dizzy.

"Now,  you must descend to the house at the foot of the mountain. I will not wait until sunrise." He turned back around and left.

"Huh? T-that's all?" Tanjiro spoke up.

You shrugged, "I have no idea why I'm left here with you too but- he probably thinks you won't be able to see through this thick fog." Which wasn't the reason there.

"I've already memorized the routes leading back to his house but, Tanjiro, how can you find your way back?" You questioned. He beamed, opening his mouth ready to explain.

"I have a strong sense of smell, so I can track him down." He said.

You hummed, nodding.

I figured, flashbacks to that temple... you shuddered, remembering the demon you fought with earlier.

Pushing all thoughs aside, the two of you proceeded on walking in the dark area. Scanning around the path you were taking, it was easier to spot things that are out of place with your eyes that can see a little more better than Tanjiro could.

Suddenly, Tanjiro stepped a foot forward and you widened your eyes when his foot got caught in a rope.

"Oh sh-! Tanjiro-!!" You called out, qyickly whipping your vectors out to protect both you and Tanjiro from the rocks that suddenly started appearing out of nowhere.

Tanjiro, with eyes still closed, started walking back in panic with his arms up to cover his face. You deadpanned, he still hadn't realized that none of the rocks barely even hit him thanks to you.

"Oi if you keep going backwards-"
Late once again.

He yelped as he stepped backwards and fell into a pit. It was a covered one, meaning that this test Urokodaki had set you both up to wasn't a mere go up the mountain and come back down test, but it was to test if you could avoid the traps he had set there.

You sighed, facepalming.

"Aight, don't move I'm coming-"

"Another one!!" Apparently his hand slammed down on a string and activated another trap that caused a wooden log to slam onto the center of his back.

"Jesus christ Tanjiro... if you keep activating all the traps, we're not gonna be able to get back on time." You said, him just staring up at you with a pained expression.

You pitied him, you really did, but his careless actions' enough to drive you wild. (Yo not that)

"Take my hand." You reached a hand out, him blushing as he saw your figure that was as clean as it could ever be compared to his.

"S-sorry...." he muttered, taking your hand and pulling himself up.

"No need to worry, we're both in this together. Now come on, we need to move." You smiled at him, causing his blush to deepen a bit.

"T-thank you, (Y/n)-chan." He smiled back.

"Uhm, did you notice that... up this mountain, the air seems to be gradually becoming thinner?" He asked.

You nodded, "simple logic. Higher you go, the thinner the air gets so it's harder for us to breathe." You patted his shoulder with a comforting smile, "don't worry though, you need to know the right breathing pattern for you to be able to descend such areas without losing much stamina."

"Saa, let's go now, Tanjiro-kun."

He blushed, admiring your face that sent an adorable smile towards his way. He hesitantly nodded, before giving a smile back to you.

"The scents of the person that set these traps here still lingers, so we can evade some for now. Let's do this, (Y/n)-chan!"
