Mount Fujikasane: Site of Final Selection

"Look, (y/n)-chan."

"Hm?"

Tanjiro turned to you, smiling as he pointed to the purple flowers hanging by the trees.

"Aren't they beautiful?" You smiled back, nodding.

"But wisteria isn't supposed to be blooming this time of the year, I wonder.." he trailed off.

The two of you finally arrived to the place where the final selection was being held in, surprised by how many people there were gathered around.

Your eyes scanned around, seeing different shades of ugliness.

"Greetings everyone."

"Thank you all for gathering here tonight for the final selection."

"Mount Fujikasane holds demons that have been taken by demon-slayer swordmen have taken alive and trapped here."

"Demons hate wisteria flowers, which bloom here even out of season."

"They cover the mountain from its foot to halfway up the slope."

"However from that point on, the wisteria doesn't bloom so demons roam free. You must survive there for seven days."

"If you do, then you will have passed final selection. Now go."

"What a long ass speech." You stated, deadpanning.

"Ikuso, (y/n)-chan!" He said, eyebriws furrowed in determination. He quickly took your hand, pulling you towards the area where wisteria flowers grew no more.

"Hey hey! Get lost!!"

"I'm gonna eat this kid!"

"No, you get lost!!"

"Nice, demons bickering for who eats a human first." You said, deadpanning once again.

"Since there's two of them, I'll take the other one, Tanjiro-kun." He looked at you, nodding before running off to the one with short black hair.

"Eyo! Over here!" You signalled with a grin, waving your arms up in the air.

Oh, I can't wait! You thought, feeling your body heat up as adrenaline rushed through you.

You were excited to shed blood again.

The one with long black hair looked at you, grin stretching further as it licked its lips.

"Oh great! Even more meal for me!" It cackled, launching towards you.

"Nice tongue, it's really long, I like it." You said with a smile, the intent to weird him out clearly laced in your voice. It slightly hesitated, before running towards you again.

"You're weird." He said.

"But I can't wait to get my meal!" He quickly added, grin still evident.

You gave back the same energy, grinning too. As he reached you, he became confused as to why you weren't making any efforts to evade his attack. This made him think that it'll be more easy to get you now.
