Jaeha had taken up freelancing. His main expertise was to go and investigate. Because of this he had finished visiting almost half of the world in the last year.
This time he was in Austria following a lost lover's trail. He was in a quiet town on the outskirts miles away from any major cities or airports. It was a quaint place. A painting come to life.
Jaeha never in his wildest dreams would have thought he would see her here.
It wasn't the first time he had seen her. Her essence manifested in most places he went. Often a tragic reminder of what that does not exist anymore.
This time however, she was here in the flesh. By the window in cafe. A book in her hand. He was shocked frozen in place. He waited, waited for her to disintegrate into nothing but she didn't. A waiter came with a cup of coffee. She smiled. The embodiment of elegance. It was her. She spent what seemed like hours in the cafe reading the book.
Jaeha could not bring himself to go to her. Even questions did not cross his mind. He followed her with all the silence skills he had learnt in his years of acting as a bodyguard.
He had been doing it for weeks. She looked fine. More in peace. Maybe even...
But he could not accept that. He lied. He lied to Anna telling her the job was taking longer than expected. He might have to stay a few more weeks. Truthfully just looking at her like this from afar he could probably spend his whole life.
He was glad. He did not know how
but she was alive. There were times he wanted to go to her. He wanted to engulf her in his arms. But he was afraid. Once when it finally registered that she wasn't an illusion but was actually alive and well, he was afraid she would disappear if he approached her.
She truly had him tamed.
